It would be fascinating to learn how this works out.  What an interesting position for Upwork to be in.  A relatively iron-clad rule vs. religious tolerance.   I am not smart enough to figure this stuff out.  I'd love to know how it was resolved.

John: This is not complicated.

Upwork simply allows freelancers to verify their identity by making special arrangements (such as allowing Muslim women who wear a veil to do video verification with a female agent), and then the freelancers are allowed to use a photo in which they wear their religious garb.


So neither Upwork's policies nor the freelancer's religious rules are violated.
