I posted job in upwork and invited people to the same

I am new to upwork.

I posted a job and invited several people for the same. I hired required number of people and even closed the job post. But why are other people(whom I invited) able to bid for the job post. I thought of declining other invites but upwork is asking for a reason completely irrelevant and profile damaging. I cannot manually tell every freelancer that the job is closed or decline them with irrelevant reason that damages their profile. Is there a way? Please help

I am not sure what you think will happen.

If you do not hire someone, there is no way that you can affect their profile.

If you close a job, then close the job. Feel free to say why. If you decline to hire someone, the only thing that stating a reason why would do would be to inform them why.

None of this is reflected on anybody's profile.

Only hiring somebody and paying them can lead to you being able to do anything which will show up in their profile.

Thanks Preston,

It's a relief to hear that.

One more thing will they be able to apply for the invited job even if it is closed?

And what are kudos and do they have some kind of significance.

Sorry am asking a lot of questions 🙂

Hi Eswar,

Once the job is closed, freelancers are unable to bid/apply for the job.

Kudos is a way for you to say that you "like" another Community member's reply/post.
