Identity Verified badge

Hi,

I got an Email from Up work team and I was required to provide a valid government-issued photo ID for obtaining an “Identity Verified” badge.I checked my passport,the date of expiry is 12 NOV 2018,so is it possible that I provide with an already expired ID(haven't gone abroad in the past coule of years)?
