This is the job post : Hi, I need someone to register an Etsy store on my behalf. If you can provide your information to register an Etsy store for us, you will get $20 from Upwork, AND WE WILL SHARE 1/3 OF OUR MONTHLY PROFIT WITH YOU. (We usually made a profit of around $ 2500 monthly with one store)
Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions.

1. Why do we need you to register on my behalf?

Etsy is a good platform that sells handicrafts. However, this platform does not allow Chinese sellers(at least stores with Chinese IPs are not allowed). We want to sell exclusively elegant handicrafts to customers worldwide, and Etsy is one of our channels.

2. Why don't we use VPN?

We tried, and none of the stores survived(they are all suspended permanently ), which means this is not workable. We tried to use people's IDs and bank cards from other countries and it worked.

3. What information from you will be provided?
Any information that Etsy requires for registration. E.g., ID, name, a credit card for getting paid and paying bills. (This is where the thorny problem comes in. Yes we need your credit card to open up an account, you can feel free to ask questions)

4. Why would we provide such a seemingly high share with you, since this is just an information-providing task?
It's really hard to register a Etsy store AND maintain it from suspension. So we have to build long-term cooperation with you.

5. Will there be any effects on your side?
Yes, you cannot register any Etsy shop for yourself in the future, so take this into consideration.

It's really hard to register a Etsy store AND maintain it from suspension.

It is really easy to register an Etsy store and nobody ever was suspended from Etsy.

Hi Alia,

Any job that asks you to set up or use your own account for anything is usually a scam. Be really careful about sharing your personal information. There are sometimes jobs for mobile app testers, but the legitimate ones don't ask you to enter real information.

If you're new to Upwork, this is a good read.

It's also good to get to know the Terms of Use. You can find them on the legal pages if you click on Terms of Service at the bottom of the page.

I do find this to occasionally true. Outside... is always odd feeling.

Yes, it's a scam. They just want access to your personal information and credit card. Anything that sounds too good to be true (earning money for doing nothing) is either a scam, or you'll be helping someone commit fraud (or both).

You could have researched this yourself simply by Googling "are Chinese sellers allowed on Etsy?" The answer is yes, they are. So this job post is a lie.

Hi, well actually I am the poster for this job offer. I wouldn't have explained here until so many members of this community keep saying this is a scam.  Just to clarify that we are not scam.

For those who said "It is really easy to register an Etsy store and nobody ever was suspended from Etsy." I think they are not from China so this theory is applicable to them. But if anyone who googled "Are Chinese Sellers allowed on Etsy" or "Can I sell on Etsy if my country is not listed?", they would understand why I am posting this job offer here. Believe it or not, I have around 30 partners and we are working just fine. So please at least cease saying this is a scam, thank you. And by the way, Chinese scammers don't scam non-Chinese, they scam their own people only(sad) because almost all Chinese scammers are really bad in English, otherwise, they will do translating(like me).

But you can see how scammy this sounds, right? No serious freelancer will agree to this payment structure, and you should not offer profit sharing on upwork, this is not allowed.

Hi Martina. The post with this phrasing has already been removed and I was also warned by upwork support. So I have changed to new rhetoric in my latest posts, which I made make more sense. Thank you for the point-out.
