Job canceled

After I've applied to a job, the client sent me a message with more details about the job, then he asked me to see if I can do the job or no.
I made my exercise and replied him after 24 hours.
Next day I checked my connects's history and found the connects of the job are Refunded and the job DESCRIPTION is (job cancelled).
In the mean time, he posted the job again.
Does it mean that he ignored my feed back?
My proposal is still marked as active, and the job posting shows that he is interviewing 5 freelancers.
What is the meaning of (job cancelled) ?

What do you mean "you made your exercise?"

It means other freelancers had an ounce of common sense, declined to do any free work ("exercise") and reported the job post for asking for free work, so Upwork took the job post down.

I made some analysis for the detailed requirements and modified my proposal terms accordingly.

May be he asked others, but he didn't ask me for any work.

If the job was cancelled and the connects returned to you, then Upwork is the party that cancelled the job. They do this when there is something in the description that violates the terms of service.
