Job search turns up old jobs

How am I supposed to win bids when Up Works search gives me days old jobs that are already in progress?  Up Works needs to create a method where in-progress jobs are not turned up on the job search - a way for clients remove the listing when they hire rather than leave the job open until it is completed.  I understand a few clients will hire more than one freelancer for the same job, but don't believe that is the majority.
