Jobs Removed from the Site

Hi, 

I was wondering if it is normal to continue to pursue jobs/Skype interviews and such, if the job has been removed from Upwork due to not complying with Terms and Services. I have received three messages so far from employers for private Skype interview invites to talk about the job further, but then all of those jobs have been removed from Upwork. 

Do most freelancers continue to interview and do the job or should you stop contacting that employer at that point? I am new and not sure what most of you do.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I checked and the team has already taken action against the clients in question. Please note that offering and accepting payments off Upwork is a violation of Upwork TOS. Upwork requires all payments to go through our platform and offers Upwork Payment Protection for both hourly and fixed-price contracts. You can refer to Section 7 of the User Agreement for detailed information.

Please check out this post for more tips on how to avoid questionable jobs and please use the flag option found on each job post or message anytime you’d like to report a violation.

The connects you used for these proposals should already be refunded to you, this you can check under your Connects History.

Thank you for the answer! I do see a couple of the jobs that were removed
have not yet been refunded. Does it generally take a couple days?

So you're new and you're just wondering if it's OK to break the rules and if established freelancers would like their accounts to be desactivated?

Skype interviews+ jobs removed from Upwork = scam.

Oh I experienced this too. Had two typing jobs that got removed from Upwork. I'm glad I read it here. I was just saved from being scammed.

Hello! Sorry that I post in an old thread, but its really relevant to my current situation. First of all, I'm new on Upwork.

Did a proposal on a "Documents conversion to word" job. Received an email that said to contact their manager on Telegram. When I wanted to reply via Upwork chat, it appeared that "Room is not found". At the Proposals section the job still appears as "Active proposal", but when click on it, it shows: "This job has been removed from Upwork, so we are no longer able to retrieve your proposal."

Next step, I wrote on Telegram to the lady. I already knew that it smells like scam or something like that. So I lure her in 😄 Sure, I will not take any job, since I dont feel this as correct (for Upwork policyes) or anyhow secure option.

Probably its a scam or cross hiring, as you will see in the attachements. 

Now, what to do?

Now you read the ToS and realize that you made a terrible mistake communicating outside of upwork before hire, since it's strictly forbidden. You promise to never do it again and hope you don't lose your profile. 

Then you stop trying to play the scammers. 

After that, you read the ToS some more and realize, you made another huge mistake: no profile photo. You remedy it real fast.
