New and want clarifications

I just joined today, and invite suggestions answers or comments from just about anyone. I have listed under proofreader. W/o going into much detail; about myself

I appear to have submitted 7 proposals. What about the premium version? Will that get more answers?

I wonder if no body will ever answer ?

How will I know if I get a response?

Can I hear a sound on my phone if someone responds? How to know at once?

It is right to bias your CV to appeal to illiterate people? I am not sure how to do that? Can someone on upwork rewrite my profile to get picked up? I am quite smart but feel almost sure I will be shunned at first sight. This feeling makes me both angry and hurt as it means a change of personality and soul-laundering.I prefer to move my location than change myself. Naturally i am willing to change my profile to cater tp the pleasing of the audience. I am originallty a physicist who has left Physics voluntarily as they made a change so they won't have women whop don't have a woman personality. I want to be hired without having to compromise my only reservation : I do not want to acquire a real or faked woman personality whatever that means.

Can anyone answer without hate?

Why must I reconsider proofreading? Please provide reasons?   Also why would scammers target me as a proof reader on this website, where there are safeguards against scammers? What scammers? I mean that would be people who extract work and do not pay? Surely upwork wont let them?

You get 10 connects back if someone responds. I don't really understand your other questions, but I would really reconsider proofreading in english.

Also, just as an aside, make sure you read up on check scammers because they target proofreaders.

Hi Mohini, the reason others are suggesting you reconsider proofreading in English is because, based on your profile and what you've written here, you lack the qualifications to excel in that field.  You do not sound or write like a native English speaker, and your profile has many errors.  This is not meant to offend but simply tell you matter of factly what is so.  No one is going to hire you in this field because you do not appear qualified based on your communication and profile.

I would suggest instead trying to do content writing in Physics, since you can be a subject matter expert, and do not need to worry about proofreading or editing, since your job would be to provide subject matter expertise on physics and related content.

Regarding scammers,  Upwork can only protect you so much from scammers, especially if you have not read the help articles and TOS. It appears you have not thoroughly read the TOS.  Some things to take note of: never communicate with a client outside of Upwork UNLESS you have a contract already in place (meaning you can see it in your contracts page); never accept any payment via check or otherwise - only accept payment through Upwork.  If a client wants to send you a check to purchase items, decline.  Avoid jobs that appear unethical, such as doing someone's homework or writing reviews about products for pay.

I suggest you go to the help articles and read through each very carefully, as well as reading the TOS very carefully. That will help you understand how to use this site without being scammed.  Upwork can only protect you if you follow their rules.

What I find extraordinary, is that Upwork accepts profiles of wannabe proofreaders while rejecting three profiles of people, who to my certain knowledge, are not only certified proofreaders with experience as well as offering specialist subjects and degrees to back up those specialisms.  Ah well - no doubt the Upwork 'specialists' know better, or perhaps they just do not recognize (or understand) British English.

I'm sorry, but your English - while good - is not at the level of a native speaker; therefore, it will be difficult for you to get hired as a proofreader.
