New to Upwork, first possible proofread job a scam?

I'm really skeptical about this because the employee posted a lot of variants of this job, and first step is to click a tiny link to get supposedly get to their app.

Yes, very likely. Many job posts contain links trying to take the conversation off upwork. I report these all the time, and they still keep showing up, presumably with slightly different details each time.

Someone I know on upwork was even told by a client to submit a $40 "deposit, as a guarantee" that their work will be successful. Of course this was promptly reported as well.
