Not receiving connects as a new account

Hi there! I created an Upwork account on July 10th, 2024, and I haven't received any connects since then. I have checked my Connects History and there's still nothing. I would be so grateful if you could help me with this issue. Thank you!

Upwork now requires new freelancers to subscribe to Freelancer Plus for $20 USD/month or purchase 100 Connects for $15 USD to submit their first proposal. After you fulfill this requirement, you will also get the 50 free Connects that freelancers traditionally receive when signing up.

Here's a copy of what they responded : "Currently, new freelancers on Upwork need to do one of two things before they can receive 50 free Connects and submit a proposal for a job: subscribe to our Freelancer Plus membership plan for $20 USD a month or purchase 100 Connects for $15 USD.Additionally, I would encourage you to check available learning paths in the Academy section to help you get started with freelancing on Upwork."

Free Connects are no longer given at sign up. You have to subscribe to Freelancer Plus membership plan for $20 USD a month or purchase 100 Connects for $15 USD first.

I recently signed up as a new freelancer on Upwork and I am eager to start applying for jobs. However, I have noticed that I have not yet received the initial 50 connects that are typically provided to new freelancers to help them get started on the platform.

Could you please assist me in understanding why I have not received these connects? Is there an additional step I need to complete or a requirement I might have overlooked?

So let me get this straight : I sign up on upwork because I want to work as
a freelancer but I need to first start by paying the organisation money
(that I need and that is why I signed up) to start any work whatsoever?

Thanks. How to purchase 100 connects on upwork for $15? I don't see option for this kind of purchase. There's only a Freelancer Plus membership plan option.

Hi Laura,

If you're on the mobile app, you won't see the option to buy Connects from there, as it's not currently supported. You must log in using a computer and then go to Settings > Membership & Connects to buy them. Alternatively, if you try to submit a job proposal, you will be prompted to buy Connects before applying, and that'll take you to the same page.

I new on Upwork. I read about Connects (here:https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211062898-Understanding-and-using-Connects) and I should get 10 connects monthly, but I haven't any initial connects, any monthly connects. My connects balance is 0.
Why is this happening and what I should to do to receive this free connects?

P.S. Now I don't have money for buying membership plus. Maybe after 2-3 orders I will do it.

It's highly unlikely that you will receive any invitations or get any jobs in the initial phases.

It takes money to make money here. You have to spend money on connects and apply for as many jobs as possible within your field.

I would complete your profile and fill out your portfolio to give yourself the best fighting chance. After that, purchase some connects in bulk and apply to jobs that fit.
