Not receiving connects as a new account

Hello, Everyone!

 

A friend suggested I create an upwork account to Jumpstart my freelancing career. He mentioned that I should have free connectes upon joining for me to bid on contracts. After completing my account, I have 0 connect credits. Is there anything else I need to do?

Hi all,

 

Upwork currently requires new freelancers to do one of two things before being able to submit a proposal for a job: subscribe to our Freelancer Plus membership plan for $19.99 USD a month, or purchase Connects. After you fulfill this requirement you will also receive 50 free Connects to further help you get started on Upwork.

And this is part of why I said they (Upwork) need to adjust a few things. The thread can be pinned (which is normal on normal community forums for current-hot topics) rather than expecting Clark, Sophie, and other free support persons to respond to these questions everyday 😄

 

But that's not how things set up in here.

Hi I have still not recieved my monthly connects for this month. Can anyone please help?

my current billing cycle is July 31st 2024 - Aug 31st 2024.

Upwork currently requires new freelancers to do one of two things before being able to submit a proposal for a job: subscribe to our Freelancer Plus membership plan for $19.99 USD a month, or purchase Connects. What about buying 10 connects? Will after buying 10 connects,  get monthly 10 free connect?

Thank you for your message. Currently, we won't be able to confirm the exact number of Connects you need to purchase in order to start submitting a proposal and receive free Connects. However, if you are prompted to subscribe to our Freelancer Plus membership plan or purchase Connects, you'll be advised on how many Connects you need to purchase at that time. Currently, I think Upwork doesn't give any free connects, but if you buy their membership, then they will give you the free connect for the new account

Hello Upwork,

 

It is a little concerning that it is indicated, that we would get 10 free tokens upon joining.  I was encouraged to join and it was mentioned that there are the first free tokens x 10.  

 

In my mind, I am looking for work, for which I will be paid, once done.  I will not recieve a 100% payment as there is a % that is kept by Upwork which is indeed understandable.  However, I must now first pay (which will be almost R350.00) to maybe ... possibly, hopefully get some work in but not gauranteed.  

 

Does not make sense to me at all, very concerning actually.

I have registered a week ago and I still haven't got the 10 free connects that I'm supposed to get, did you get a resolution on this?

You won't get any free connects until you buy at least $15 worth of connects first.

50 free connects I recently signed up as a new freelancer on Upwork and I am eager to start applying for jobs. However, I have noticed that I have not yet received the initial 50 connects that are typically provided to new freelancers to help them get started on the platform. Could you please assist me in understanding why I have not received these connects? Is there an additional step I need to complete or a requirement I might have overlooked? Upwork no longer provides free Connects at sign up. Upwork currently requires new freelancers to do one of two things before being able to submit a proposal for a job: subscribe to the Freelancer Plus membership plan for $19.99 USD a month, or purchase Connects. After you fulfill this requirement you will also receive 50 free Connects to further help you get started on Upwork, as well as the free Connects tied to your membership for any subsequent months.

My freelancer account ran out of connects and want to pay for the first time for connects and i get this message:

 

Your profile has not yet been approved

Once your profile has been approved you can view your default membership plan or upgrade your plan on this page.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. Could you please confirm if the issue persists when you clear your cookies, or use a different browser?

Hi Avery, i tried a different browser and even deleting the cookies on my browser and still the same.

I realized i have "2 accounts".. the first one is an Agency type account and the second one (the one im trying to buy connects for) is a freelancer account .

Hi Ricardo,

 

The reason why you can't purchase connects on your freelancer profile is because you`re an exclusive member of the agency. This means that you can work only on projects under the agency.
If you would like to work as an independent freelancer as well the agency owner will need to change your status to Non exclusive member. Thank you.

Thanks Goran, i tried to do that but was unsuccessful... Im lost here... the only option that makes sense is Members and Permissions.. and it says that i need to upgrade to Agency Plus and i dont want to do that.

 

 

 

Is there another option to change the status to Non Exclusive Member (my account is owner of the agency and freelancer at the same time so it seems.)

Hi Bojan,

I am Teguh, I have the same problem as mentioned above by Ricardo and have the same concern to get a job from my freelancer account.

A bit different with Ricardo, I was starting the membership plan from my agency account by today. I mistakenly assumed that the membership plan will also get the "connects" as I plan to buy.
Turn out I realize it was only a membership plan without top-up "connects".

While in my Freelancer Account, I still have enough available "connects" to get a job.

So please help me how can I get a job without buying another "connects" from my Agency Account, I prefer to get a Job from my Freelancer account for several targeted job.

Hi Teguh,

 

Thank you for reaching out. If you want to apply using your freelancer account, you just have to switch your profile from agency to freelancer account and submit proposals from there.

 

Since you will be applying from your freelancer account and will not be using the Agency Plus plan, are you also looking to have the payment refunded?
