Not receiving connects as a new account

Hello, Everyone!

A friend suggested I create an upwork account to Jumpstart my freelancing career. He mentioned that I should have free connectes upon joining for me to bid on contracts. After completing my account, I have 0 connect credits. Is there anything else I need to do?

Upwork now requires new freelancers to subscribe to Freelancer Plus for $20 USD/month or purchase 100 Connects for $15 USD to submit their first proposal. After doing this, you will get the 50 free Connects that freelancers usually receive when they sign up.

After you fulfill this requirement you will also receive 50 free Connects to further help you get started on Upwork.

I was told to add a billing card and wait 48hrs to get the free connect, I've waited 24 out of, am I waiting in vain?

Thank you for your message. I'd like to clarify that Connects cost $0.15 (USD) each and are sold in bundles or a custom amount of your choice. When you subscribe to Freelancer Plus plan for $19.99, your account will automatically be credited with 90 free Connects as this is one of the benefits of the plan. While new freelancers can choose to purchase the Freelancer Plus membership or buy Connects, many may not have the resources to invest right away.

Providing free Connects would give them a vital opportunity to kickstart their journey on Upwork. I kindly urge Upwork to consider this approach to better support new freelancers.
