Not receiving connects as a new account

Hello, Everyone!

A friend suggested I create an upwork account to Jumpstart my freelancing career. He mentioned that I should have free connectes upon joining for me to bid on contracts. After completing my account, I have 0 connect credits. Is there anything else I need to do?

I’d like to clarify that Upwork currently requires new freelancers to do one of two things before being able to submit a proposal for a job: subscribe to our Freelancer Plus membership plan for $19.99 USD a month, or purchase Connects. After you fulfill this requirement you will receive 50 initial free Connects to further help you get started on Upwork and also start receiving your monthly free Connects that come with your membership.

Hello, 

I have completed all of my profile for Upwork and started the same day as my partner, after having my identity verified twice I still have no connects.

My partner and I are both on the same plan and he has the 50 connects and I do not. It has been over 48 hours now. I have contacted support and spoken to the chat bot but to no avail. 

Please may someone help? Thanks!

Thank you for you reply- if you could help me please: 

I am confused with this because my partner joined the same day as me, did not buy any connects or subscribe to the freelancer plus membership and he recieved free credits? Is there a reason that it is different for him and not for me? I cannot find any information online why some users are gifted connects and others are not.  He has already been able to apply for proposals despite following the exact same protocols as me. 

Also, should I not be given 10 connects as my monthly subscription?

Since I've created my account, I still didn't receive any connect, it says my plan is the basic one, it should earn 10 free connects monthly.

it has more than a month that my account has been created and until now, nothing here

I am having this same issue also. I waited till my billing cycle reset and was expecting the 10 free connects, but it hasn't been reflected in my account yet.

Since your account is new, Upwork requires new freelancers to subscribe to Freelancer Plus or purchase 100 Connects to submit their first proposal. After doing this, you will get the 50 free Connects that freelancers usually receive when they sign up. Then, you will start you will start receiving the 10 free monthly Connects.

They haven't updated their website to reflect the fact that we have to either JOIN or purchase XX amount of connects in order to place bids. You would think they'd do that so they don't get in a legal bind....
