Hi folks, newbie here.
When I was first contacted by a client, the job posting showed that he was interviewing 4 freelancers, but now it shows only 3. Is that a glitch or can a client "discard" an interview?
I'm not paranoid, YOU are!

I've never paid close enough attention to notice that, but my guess is it's related to the client declining a proposal from a freelancer they invited to a job. Accepting an invitation automatically starts an interview, so it would make sense to me that declining the proposal would cancel that out. Clients can also decline submitted proposals after starting an interview. Or, the freelancer may have withdrawn their proposal after an interview started.
I wouldn't worry too much about that fluctuating. The only reason I pay attention to the interview numbers is that I'll typically ignore a job that has a high number of interviews in progress.

Hi Claudia,
Once a client sends you a message, or you and the client starts communicating about the job, it will be considered as an interview. Also, when a client sends you an invite, and you have accepted it, you will be listed under the Interviewing section. Clients do have the option to also decline a proposal.

Thank you, Marie and Wes. One more question: if a client formally declines a proposal, as opposed to simply not continuing the interview, is the freelancer notified about it?

Hi Claudia,
If the client declines a proposal, you can find it under your archived proposals page with a label that it has been declined.
