Is it better to have lots of sample writings on portfolio page or is it better to have only 1-2 and then submit samples at bottom of proposal/bid page? By submitting samples with bid does that increase likelyhood of client asking for free work? (and yes I now understand better how to avoid free work). I wish the Upwork readiness test had been a requirement before one could start submitting bids.

As a client, I am more impressed by a freelancer who posts many quality pieces in their portfolio on their profile page. I can't see how posting 10 diverse pieces instead of just 2 would hurt your chances with any client.
Personally, I hate it when freelancers send attached files. I rarely look at them. I want to look at your portfolio.

Ann, Ann, Ann the speech pathologist from the US. I think it's safe to say your samples won't be stolen.

It took you one year for a masters degree. Impressive.
