Possible Scam/Phishing

I was recently contacted regarding a proposal I submitted. The client wanted me to open their rates via a website, the website downloaded a ZIP file to my computer which had inside a .pif file which I am not familiar with. I did some google search and people say this is how viruses are sent. The user is now not reachable and proposal is no longer available so I guess they were caught. Just wanted to know if there is something I need to do?
