Profile Picture

Hello,

What's the purpose of showing your picture, many people are private and I'm one of them.

Having your picture online and someone misuses it isn't something we look forward too.

Would appreciate if this issue is looked into. As I've never seen it before. Not even Amazon.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry. Too many bad people were creating fallacious profiles and causing problems for clients. Clients complained. Upwork made photos mandatory for freelancers. Previously it was optional.

Blame the bad people.

As for Amazon. They require photos of the products they sell. So, actually, Upwork is just like Amazon in this regard.

Having YOUR picture is a requirement if you want to work as a freelancer on this site. Freelancers are providing a service, Clients want to see that you are who you say you are because they are paying money to you. If having your real picture is such a problem then many you should look for another site where pictures of yourself are not required.

This is not Facebook!

They are paying for your work not face.

Don't see an issue since Upwork already validates the information of both sides.

And as the previous post mentioned bad people ruining on others, and the only way to solve this issue is by posting a picture of yourself! Millions, even billions of pictures are on the internet, there's no way Upwork can validate all freelancers, impossible.

And if the clients were complaining about the work why would it be an issue if the payment isn't done unless approved by them and Upwork.

O T,

there are dozens of other threads that discuss this topic.

You are welcome to read those to see what has already been said about this topic.

You are correct in your logic, and there are indeed other freelancer platforms available without Upwork's photo requirements. You are welcome to use those other platforms while Upwork considers your request to eliminate this requirement.
