Re: Meet our Community Featured Contributor Biljana V.

Hi Vladimir G. I am new to this - so pretend you are explaining things to your mom.  I am not clear on how this all works. I have tried reading up, then submitted my profile for a project, spend a whole sy completing the task, only to receive email from Upworks stating it the offer was removed as it did not adhere to the rules of Upworks. The person I did freelance work for, contacted me through email but then requested correspondence only through Telegram, payment also not via Upworks. How will I know if the application is legit and through Upworks??

Note, I did not submit the work completed after the email notifications received from Upworks, thus I did not receive payment

Hi Liza,

I would be happy to help. I would like to clarify that a real client will never ask you to give them money to start working, cash a check for them, work for free, or provide your personal information. Never get paid or pay someone outside of Upwork. You may open yourself up to scams or fraud, and lose Upwork Payment Protection.

Unfortunately, it looks like you were not hired for this job. Please keep in mind that you shouldn't provide any work until your client sends you an offer and a contract is created under your My Jobs tab.

encourage you to let us know if a TOS violation has happened by using the Flag as Inappropriate option throughout the platform. You can learn more about user reporting here.

Additionally, I would encourage you to check this help article and available learning paths in the Academy section to help you get a safe and successful start.
