Hello everyone, I am new to this platform. Fortunately, I read the safety practices before I got started. My very first job interview ended up being a scam. How do I know? I read the safety article and recognized pretty quick what was going on. I was probably targeted because I'm new but who knows. Anyway....if anyone says they are trying to hire you to work for **edited for Community Guidelines** this is a scam. I went one step further to call the company and let them know what was happening and they confirmed they do not hire through this platform and that I was the 6th caller this week. Just wanted to share 🙂

Thats good you saw that. Unfortunately it's happening a lot. To avoid getting involved with the wrong type of job, make sure you always communicate throgh the platform ONLY and do not start working unless a contract and funds have been confirmed and properly added to the contract.

Hi Eva and Rose,
I'm glad that both of you were able to identify the red flags before anything else happened. As Hugo has shared,
users cannot communicate off Upwork until a contract has been set up on your account (the client sent an offer, and you accepted it). It would also be best to visit these articles for more information on how you can keep in line with Upwork's Terms of Service when engaging on the website:
