Should I copyright my manuscript before hiring an editor?

I don't want to be paranoid, but I have spent a few years writing a book that I now want to give to an editor on Upwork, to read, give feedback, and edit. Is my work protected if I submit it through this website, to the editor I hire here, or would it be wise to get a copyright before submitting it? Thanks.

Hi Debra, 

Optional Service Contract Terms include a section about Intellectual Property Rights. You can refer to Section 6 specifically. You can also agree to incorporate additional or different terms when setting up a contract with a freelancer.
