Hello, I'm new to Upwork. Yesterday, I just sent a proposal for a typing job. The client then re-directed the conversation away from Upwork. Not knowing any better, I decided to go to Telegram. He asked me about my personal information and then told me about the copy-typing job there.
However, the catch was that he didn't fund any payment into escrow, even though the project had a fixed price. His Upwork account was also suspended and the job was removed as well. Will I get scammed if I continue with the work?

The catch was when the client (scammer) redirected the conversation away from Upwork and you followed, also violating the Terms of Service. There is a reason why his account was suspended and job removed. Review the Academy courses at the top of this page to use Upwork properly and avoid suspension of your account.

Hello I'm also new to Upwork. Similiar thing happened to me a few days ago. This is my take away . whenever someone tries to get you off from Upwork you should not follow. Since Upwork protects you from scammers in the first place. So I really recomend not following anyone...
Btw hope you have some luck. So far I've had very little

Michael,
There's no such job or skill called Freelancer. It's a category of work. Frankly, you will never find work by calling yourself a freelancer -- which, if were so, would mean you are competing with 12 or 13 million others for work, because everyone on Upwork is, technically, a freelancer.
Freelancer is a category of work that has no strict definion except that you work for yourself. Beyond that, there are several common markers that begin to define (and shape up to be) known as freelancing. Those would pivot mostly around offering a service to others, who don't hire you as an employee, but contract you to peforrm a task as an independent worker.
I don't like to scold, but I can tell you many, many Upwork vetrans would quickly point out that a profile such as yours that offers no service, but throws out your availability at a low hourly rate, is an invitation to scammers. It makes sense, in other words, that you have had no luck finding work, but the only contact you seem to have had was with someone out to fleece you.
Take your profile down, think of a service you can offer in which you feel like a bona fide expert, then come back and establish yourself as a freelancer. Remember that "bona fide expert" part. When you work for yourself, you're either an expert or a thief.

Anthony,
Thank you for clarifying that to me. I've come to realise that more and more lately.
Altho I'm not sure when does one become a bona fide expert ,but I will try to become one nonetheless.

Hey Michael, I also took a look at your profile. Consider using the max of skills, you only added 3 I think you can have 14. I'm sure if you look at all the choices you can find 14. This may help your organic traffic a bit.
