The customer deceived me

Hello!

I offered the customer a solution to the problem for $ 75. The customer created the project for $40 and invite me.

I asked to recreate the project for $ 75 and the customer said that he agreed. The work was urgent, they had to meet it in an hour. The customer was deliberately stalling for time, and as soon as I rolled out the solution, I changed the passwords and deleted the project with the motivation "we didn't agree on the budget".

All correspondence was conducted in upwork chats.

What can I do to get a refund?

Never fall for "urgent" work. It's never worth it. If it was that urgent they would've "urgently" fund the milestone, which they didn't. I might have stopped communicating with them the minute they'd send a smaller offer than agreed to.

Nothing can be done from this point. Just be more careful next time.

I probably explained it badly:) I suggested completing the project sooner, because I found a solution that I had been working on for several days. The customer heard the beginning of the idea and thought that this completely solves the problem - immediately after that, he threw me out of the project and did not pay, blocked me.

Your focus should not be on the client's behavior in this situation.

You need to figure out what YOU did wrong.

If you completely understand your mistakes, it will give you the

POWER to avoid those mistakes next time.

Thanks! I will describe the situation again.

A week ago, the client had an error. I had time and decided to sort it out.

On Friday morning, I came to a solution that worked exactly and informed the customer about it. The customer immediately agreed to my terms - $ 75 per hour of work (in fact, for the solution).

However, he cheated and made an offer for $40. I asked the customer to change the budget to75$, and he said-good. It's all in the correspondence. I started implementing the solution and describing in detail what needs to be replaced and where. As soon as the customer heard what solved the problem , he closed the offer and blocked me. Do you understand?

Can I somehow influence the situation?

Based on your description, it appears that all of the mistakes were made by the freelancer.

Can you somehow influence this situation now?

No.

This is over.

I will provide simple examples, and hopefully these will answer your questions.

======

Adam wanted to hire Betsy.

Adam told Betsy that he would pay her $100 to fix his website.

Betsy agreed.

Betsy fixed the website.

Adam paid Betsy NOTHING.

Betsy realized she had never accepted an official contract.

This was over.

Betsy never received any money.

======

Carl told Danna that he would pay her $100 to fix his website.

Carl hired Danna using a fixed-price contract.

The budget was $100.

Carl funded a $5 milestone.

Danna fixed the website.

Carl released $5.

Carl closed the contract.

Danna never received $100. She only received $95.

The matter was over.
