Please go through my profile. I am capable of doing tasks assigned to me. Have the competency. But what do I need to do to land my first Upwork job? Even In any no-skill field like data entry proposals, I am not getting any response.

Seek advice and help from expertise or get me a client, please.

Any useful job link would be great . Thanks

Hi All,

I am really tired trying to get my first job in Upwork. I submitted proposals to several jobs, however, it seems that employers trust people with previous jobs done in Upwork, which is a round logic!

Also, I noticed that recently many jobs are directed to certain users throw invitations, which makes the bidding process a connects wasting process!

I recently activated the plus plan, but it does not seem to give opportunity hunt chances!

I am an expert Storyline Developer and Instructional Designer (ID). I also have a good portfolio, as I believe.

For those who are expert IDs who might see my post, could you please share your thoughts with me about my portfolio and if it is enough to hunt ID and Storyline work chances? Here is the link:

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Getting hired is merely based on the process of how carefully you craft your proposal while keeping in mind the client's need. Always have a look at the helpful statistics of the client. There is a lot to gain from like hiring percentage, active freelancers, and deeply study their feedback. Additionally, competition plays a vital role in getting hired. Less competion results in increased chances of getting hired.

I believe you are totally right. However, I almost did everything.

I now need a magic stick!

Hello everyone,

I've spent over 120 connects making proposals without receiving a single message to discuss a job opportunity. It's been quite frustrating! Am I being too generic? Or isn't clear with my proposal?

Proposal for Floor Plan Measurement Certification

Dear client,

I can accurately determine the distance of a measurement on your existing floor plan, even if it's not explicitly labeled. This would be my first job in this capacity, and I'm eager to help you. I will use the AutoCAD to certify the length in both feet and inches.

Please contact me to discuss the details and get started.

Attached 2 instances of projects that I have completed within AutoCAD

Best regards,

Can someone give a drop of hope?

Hello everyone how are you I am a new freelancer what can I do here to get more work. I have experience in data entry and have experience in graphics also creating business cards logos etc

Hello Abdul! Welcome to Upwork, and congratulations on starting your freelancing journey. Getting a job on Upwork or any freelancing platform can be competitive, but with the right approach, you can increase your chances of landing projects. I would suggest the followings:

- Make sure your Upwork profile is complete and professional.
- Showcase your work in your Upwork portfolio.
- List your relevant skills and any certifications you may have.
- Browse through job categories that match your skills and interests. You mentioned data entry and graphics, so search for jobs related to those areas.
- When you find a job that interests you, submit a well-crafted proposal.
- Consider your pricing strategy. While you want to be competitive, don't undervalue your work. Charge a rate that reflects your skills and experience.
- Landing your first few jobs may take time and persistence. Don't get discouraged by initial rejections; keep refining your approach and applying for jobs.

Remember, building a successful freelancing career takes time and effort. Be patient, stay committed, and continuously improve your skills and profile to increase your chances of getting more work. Good luck!

Winning your first client on Upwork can be an exciting milestone in your freelance career. Here are some key strategies to help you succeed:

  1. Create a Polished Profile: Ensure that your Upwork profile is complete and professional. Include a clear and concise overview of your skills, experience, and expertise. Add a professional photo and showcase your portfolio or relevant work samples.

  2. Craft a Compelling Proposal: When submitting proposals for jobs, take the time to tailor each one to the specific project and client. Highlight your relevant skills and experience, demonstrate your understanding of the client's needs, and explain how you can add value to their project.

  3. Provide Social Proof: If you have previous work experience or positive client feedback outside of Upwork, include it in your profile or proposal. This can help build trust and credibility with potential clients.

  4. Start with Lower Rates: Consider starting with competitive rates to attract clients and build your reputation on the platform. As you gain more experience and positive reviews, you can gradually increase your rates.

  5. Focus on Niche Expertise: Specializing in a specific niche or industry can make you stand out from the competition. Clients often prefer freelancers who have deep knowledge and experience in their specific field.

  6. Be Responsive and Professional: Respond promptly to client inquiries and messages. Maintain a professional and courteous communication style throughout the hiring process.

  7. Leverage Upwork Resources: Take advantage of Upwork's freelancer resources, such as tutorials, webinars, and community forums. These can provide valuable insights and tips on how to succeed on the platform.
