U.S or non-U.S person

Hi, I have a U.S work permit and currently live here. But i'm not a citizen or a green card holder. So does that make me a U.S Person or non-us poerson

Hi Prabha,

You need to be a permanent resident, or a US citizen to work on Upwork while residing in the US. Most other visa holders, including B-1, B-2, F-1, J-1, H-1, H1-B, H-4, or L-2 visas, are not eligible to work on Upwork.

Hi Avery, is this still the case in 2024? Thank you!

Hi Prabha Sameera,

I am on L2 visa with US work authorization. I can apply for jobs in companies as I have Employment Authorization. From the message below understand you too have an work permit. I am new to upwork and wanted to know if you have enquired anybody about working as freelancer in upwork using US work permit.

Thanks,

Shubha
