Unreleased Payment / Dispute

Hello everyone!

I  would like to share an experience I recently had and since it was my first client I have felt disappointed. I worked with a client on a fix rate basis. He gave me a deadline of 4 hours and I completed the task in 2 hours and submitted the work to him. Since then he hasn't replied to a single text of mine. The payment is stuck in escrow and he has not released it yet. The contract was dated on 21st March and still hasn't been closed since the payment is in escrow.

Any assistance or suggestion in this regard will be appreciated. Thank you.

So what?

Clients are not required to release payment manually.

Clients are not required to respond to freelancers.

When I do fixed-price work I use the official Submit Work button. If the client does nothing, I get paid automatically.

Do not do anything.

Do NOT click the Resubmit button, because that resets the countdown clock.

Do not send the client any messages.

Wait seven more days. Then you'll have your money.

I understand that. But I have already submitted my work when it was due. So
do you mean that upwork is taking its time to release it?

It takes 14 days for automatic release of all escrow money into your account if the client does nothing. You need to wait seven more days.

The 14-day period is to allow time for the client to review your work. Sometimes people are busy or unavailable for whatever reason, and Upwork doesn't force them to drop whatever they're doing and make it their number 1 priority to get back to you. Be patient.
