Usability issue (the job had been closed, but I got not notification and no time stamp when closed)

Dear Upwork Team,

I submitted my proposal and had been in a daily discussion with the job poster for a week. My proposal was in a status "Active Proposal". Today I discovered (ocasionally) that the job is closed.

But what is confusing (and I consider this is a usability issue), that:

1) I got no notification form Upwork (in "Messages" section in my Upwork web-interface or in my mailbox) that the job is closed.

2) There is no indicator of the status of the job:

a) in the chat room:

https://www.upwork.com/messages/rooms/room_.............................

b) on the Proposal page:

https://www.upwork.com/ab/proposals/.................................

c) in the "Proposal details" window

https://www.upwork.com/ab/proposals/.....................

Moreover, I even still have buttons "Change Terms" and "Withdraw proposal" available for the closed job!

3) there is no time stamp (date+time+GMT indicator) when the job was closed. So, I don't know, maybe it was closed a few days ago, while I was still in discussion with the job poster.

If I had not accidentally entered the Archived Proposals page,

https://www.upwork.com/ab/proposals/archived

I would not even have known that this job is closed and I would have continued to correspond with the job poster.

I would suggest Upwork team to add to the interface:

- "Job status Indicator" (an icon on each page I indicated with links above);

- time stamp showing when the job changed its status;

- notification in the "Messages" section in the Upwork web-interface;

- notification on user e-mail.

Kind regards,

Artem

Hi Artem,

I looked into this further, and I can see that the client was able to hire someone for the job. When you scroll through the job post, you will see that the client hired one freelancer, and the contract is listed in the client's Work History.

Hi, Avery,

thank you for your reply.

1) Yes, I can see in job posting that "1 hired".

But at the same time I see there "Interviewing: 8"

Don't you think that this is confusing? If the job is closed and a frinalcer is hired, than why there is "Interviewing: 8" status at the same time?

I addition, sometimes job posters sais in one job post that they are looking for 2 or 3 freelancers. I don't know how the system is dealing with such cases.

2) still my suggestion about time stamp and status indicator (in Propose screen and in the Room Discussion screen) is relevant. Still I have active buttons for a closed job. I think it's confusing and not user friendly. Any chance to get a reply from Upwork front-end or UI/UX developers?

P.S> Avery, could you please as a Moderator delete the duplicating topic? Yesterday I was trying to post this topic, but got a message that "the topic did not posted, please try again later". So, I tryied for 3-4 times. Doublechecked, that nothing was posted and went to sleep. And today I see that my topic was posted more than 1 time. And I, as an author, have no option to delete it.

BTW, this is a user experience improvement suggestion for Upwork back-end developers: "Before posting a topic make a check, if the same topic (same headline, same text) have just been posted a few seconds/minutes ago. This will avoid doubleposting".

Having an option to delete the created topic also would make user experience close to the "world's best practice" I think.

P.S> Sorry for too many suggestions and ideas. I am a newcomer here on Upwork.
