W-8BEN tax information

Hello, I can't understand what the W-8BEN tax information is. Where can I get it? I don't have a VAT number, I live in Canada. What exactly I have to do? I don't want to pay someone else for this.

The Form W-8BEN is a form used to confirm you’re not a U.S. taxpayer and that Upwork is not required to withhold taxes from your earnings. For record-keeping purposes, Upwork requires a Form W-8BEN for all non-U.S. taxpayers paid on Upwork. Once you file your Form W-8BEN, the system will activate your eligibility to access funds immediately. You may read more about it here.

All you need to do is fill out the form and you will be able to withdraw your earnings. The Form W-8BEN is a form used to confirm you’re not a U.S. taxpayer and that Upwork is not required to withhold taxes from your earnings.

To provide Upwork with your Form W-8BEN information:

• Go Settings › Tax Information
• Provide us with your legal name and address

the only last question that I have is that I'm not a Canadian cizten, I live here (with regular address and Work permit) from 7 month untill 2021. Is that the same?

Yes you`re right, you will still need to fill out the form in order to be able to withdraw your funds.
