So I have an offer for a job which has verified payments so that makes me comfortable but I just want to double check. So I did a test for them to see I can do what they're asking and they sent a DocuSign document after. I know we have to accept on Upwork to be officially contracted so is this document okay or not?

What is the document they want you to sign? Whatever it is, has nothing to do with being hired on UW. To have an official UW contract (and be able to be paid), they need to send you an offer which you then accept (assuming the terms are consistent with what you negotiated). 

BTW, it is a ToS violation for a client to ask you to perform work without pay. If they want to test your capabilities, they should set up a small contract and pay you to perform a sample of the work.
