When is the job initiated?

How do you know when the client has initiated the job? Does it start as soon as they message you? I started working on a gig after chatting but I'm not sure if the client has triggered the agreement. Thanks.

You will receive an official notification from Upwork with a green Accept button. You need to click that button.

Then you will see the contract listed under,

Upwork -> My Jobs -> My Jobs

Chase: Contracts aren't started by chat messages. Right now you are working for free.
