bank account different name

Hi everyone!

 

I got a problem, I used my mother bank account to transfer money. First I put her name on the Account Name then the rest important info. After that, there was a message;

"Bank verification in progress

Due to our updated identity policy, at least one of your payment methods has been deactivated as the beneficiary name of the bank account does not match your name."
After that, I edit and put my name instead.
More than a week after the payment has been processed, still the is no money in my mothers bank account.
 
A friend of mine said that the bank account should match the name to transfer money on the bank or there will be a problem.
 
I'm sure I made a huge mistake here, my question is what will happen to the money?
The payment has been processed already says on my notification.

Hi Leonardo, 


Direct to local bank transfers are typically processed within 2 to 5 business days. If there is an issue with the bank account, in this case, the name on the Upwork account, and the name of the bank doesn't match, the money will be refunded back to your Upwork account.

If the money still hasn't reflected on your account after 8-business days, you may come back here, or reach out to the Customer Support Directly so that they can issue a trace for you. 

I would recommend that you setup a new payment method, making sure that it matches your Upwork account details, while waiting for this transaction to be reversed.

My friend also had the same issue. Kindly check ticket#23500431 and #23474657.

Can you please help him refund his salary?

He put his Name in the Account holder information and used my bank account number to withdraw his fund last Dec 5.

Please know that users need to add a payment method that matches their Upwork name, and/or email address. Otherwise, the transaction will not be successful. In cases like these, the funds in question will automatically be refunded back to the user's Upwork account.

Hi,
I am new to upwork and I have the similar issue. My name is "Suhaibe K" .
As you can see I only have first name, but in upwork, last name is needed and you can't add initial as last name. So I had to put my name as "Suhaibe Suhaibe" in upwork. In my bank account my name is "Suhaibe K". So, will this cause a problem while transferring my earnings?

Hello Avery,

I am using a joint bank account and want to get paid but it says that the bank account name is not matched as your upwork verified name so you need to upload the bank statement and a lisence but I don't know where to upload this. Kindly send any link to that page or something else which helps me!

Your chosen payment method's account name should match your Upwork account name. Please know for security reasons, users will not be allowed to withdraw to another person's bank account as a payment method, unless the user is a joint-account holder of the bank account. You may check these other payment method options to see which is the right fit for your setup.

Itโ€™s best if you use a billing method in your name. However, if you are authorized to use an account in another name you may use it on Upwork to buy Connects, purchase a membership, etc. Check the options available to you and learn more about acceptable billing methods.

 

To set up payment to your bank or payment account, you must be listed as an account holder or authorized signer on that account, or demonstrate that you are authorized by the business to do so. The listed name on the account must match your verified name on Upwork. You can check out this help article for more information.

My bank account isnt support international trancation. Eventually my whole family use our business account for international trancation. And in my country we all are in quarantine. I have a related problem. My full name in government issued passport is Daniel Kurnia Suhendro. My name in my bank account is Daniel **Edited for Community Guidelines**. This is because I cannot include the last name in my bank account's name.   Can I have this name mismatch manually reviewed ?

I have a similar issue, basically my Bank account name is Naina Sharma and ive changed my spelling to Naena Sharma, I have all the legal documents to prove the same.

Hello,

I have a problem to get my payment.  My bank account and my upwork account is not the same  diffrent just one letter  (n/ล„) and shows me this: Payment method verification in progress

Your payment method has been deactivated because the beneficiary name on your payment method does not match the name on your Upwork account.

Could you help me with that and make this active?

I have started experiencing the same issue with a bank account (from this thread). The bank account previously worked normally (~9 months ago). I have a corporate account where I have set the company name as the account holder. Can I open a ticket to track this verification?
