how to reply to freelancer's questions

I proposed a project, the freelancer asked some questions, and I tried to reply to him... but Upwork makes it just about impossible for me to provide a detailed email response.  Is it your business model to impede freelancer/client discussion?

If you sent an invite/offer to a freelancer, that automatically opens up a message room for you and the freelancer, where you can work out the details of a project.

Or do you mean you posted a job and someone bid on it with questions in their bid?
