profile shifted to private

I received an email about my profile being changed to private. Indeed, I have been busy--with a scam that came to me directly from Upwork. As soon as the scammers contacted me via Upwork, I sent a question to Upwork about the offer; I received no reply. I find this disappointing.I notice that you refer to my "earning" every 30 days. Are you saying that I, a new freelancer, must not only submit proposals but earn every 30 days to keep my profile public? Elsewhere in your literature I believe you say 90 days before freelancers have to earn, but the letter says 30. Coupled with the job scam, I'm getting disillusioned with Upwork.

ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Good morning,

Thank you for your quick response. Once I got the email from Upwork letting
me know that the supposed client wanted to reach out to me, I did so. The
client said he wanted to work off Upwork. I've read the terms of service
and a lot of your guidance to freelancers, so I posted--I don't know on
which of the boards--a question about this. The client said they'd paid the
opt-out fee, which I researched and found was plausible, except that the
fee would be based on each individual circumstance and how much Upwork
stood to lose in commission. That was the essence of my question--could
this client pay a blanket fee and did this seem reasonable.

Best regards,

Anne Southard

Hi Anne,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. One of our team members will reach out to you directly via a support ticket to assist you further with your profile visibility.

I checked but couldn't find the question you sent us. Could you please send me more information about that? Additionally, I checked the job post you were referring to and it seems that it's already been taken down because it was in violation of Upwork ToS, and action has been taken on the client account.

Please check out this post for more tips on how to avoid questionable jobs and please use the flag option found on each job post or message anytime you’d like to report a violation.

Thank you.
