Hello - I am new to Upwork. I have bid on quite a few jobs and never really received any feedback/accepted proposals. The one exception was for a super suspicious post....
Here is history (in PNG). I don't see a flag or report button, so posting on forum. The guy had a very high user rating, enough for me to disclose my address. Figure I get enough junk mail and unable to determine the ultimate agenda here.
This so far is my entire impression of Upwork...
Nick

Its been about 2 weeks with no response, after being reassured for reply "shortly". Is this something you have encountered a lot? Just curious here.

It is not a scam as such, but it's unethical. It is using people in different areas to advertise services where they are not allowed to. This does not make it a scam, but the job is not really allowed because its aim is to break another site's terms of service.
You need to change your profile picture to a real, clear photo of yourself if you want to work here by the way. How did your profile get approved with this photo?

Hi Petra - I have now received a notification that my account has been reported. Thanks!

Upwork staff read the forum..... Just change your picture and be done with it. Unless other details on your profile aren't quite accurate either?

Petra - I am pretty upset with the hostile tone and implication about other details concerning my profile. What else do you think is wrong with me & my account? My account was approved first pass through without issue. They also have a copy of my driver license, etc. I sincerely doubt that everyone's profile pic is actually them. This is a pretty silly rule and impossible to verify.
This thread is about a potential scammer tricking people to provide possibly sensitive data. Based on that job post, much more people have supplied information. This person also has supposedly high rating and lots of positive feedback. Seems at odds.
So far I have had a thoroughly negative experience...the forum so far has just re-enforced it.

No implication and no hostile tone.
the job posting is indeed unethical as it aims to get around Google's local advertising rules.
That does not make it a scam.
The aim is not to get your address for anything other than to use your address to receive the code card Google sends out to verify an advertiser is indeed local to the area they want to advertise in. It does violate upwork terms in that it violates the rules of another site / service. Hence you could flag and / or report it. On every job posting there is a "Flag as inappropriate" button and you can report messages as well.

Ok, in terms of reporting...that option is not available on the application or the website. That appears to be the feature available only from the forum? The forum is not related to the job postings (AFAIK).
This is a snippit from the website (of which I would assume has more features than the app). I don't see a report button here or on the app. Back on the proposal page, there is also no buttons to click for reporting.
What am I missing here? This seems extremely hard to flag a job post.

You're in the wrong place 🙂 On your proposal, click on "View Job Posting"
Then, on the job posting, you see the "Flag as inappropriate" button
In messages, you need to click on the little cog on the right of the message you want to report as per my previous screenshots:
