We’re making it easier for talent open to full-time work to find contract-to-hire opportunities on Upwork. A contract-to-hire opportunity starts with a short-term contract and has the potential to turn into a full-time job later. You can show your interest in contract-to-hire opportunities on your profile and search for jobs with contract-to-hire potential.
If you both decide you want to transition to a full-time employment arrangement, the client can convert your contract for a fee and hire you full-time. Talent does not pay any fees for the conversion.
As long as both parties agree, the client can convert your contract so they can hire you as a full-time employee.
Clients can indicate if a job is a contract-to-hire opportunity in the job post flow.
Freelancers can set their preference for contract-to-hire opportunities on the Find Work page. On the right side of the page, freelancers will see Job Preference with the message, “Show clients you’re open to starting with a contract, and later exploring a full-time option.”
Freelancers can select the option, “I’m open to contract-to-hire opportunities.”
Additionally, starting October 25, clients and freelancers can access new contract-to-hire filters. Freelancers can select the Contract-to-hire filter to see jobs that clients indicated are contract-to-hire opportunities, and clients can select the Open to contract-to-hire filter to see freelancers who are interested in contract-to-hire opportunities.
