Hi Alvaro!

I have listed some of helpful topics below to help you get started and you can read all of them by exploring the support site and community.

First you should read the helpful articles by Upwork on all aspects of working on Upwork. You should also take the free courses offered by the Upwork academy to learn about profile building, proposal writing and general guide about working on Upwork.

Second, most importantly, get yourself familiar with the terms of services and rules of Upwork.

  • You can’t share contact information with clients before contract is started.
  • You can’t take payment or project off Upwork at any point.
  • You can’t offer free work
  • You should only start working on a project or job after contract is started and money is deposited in escrow in case of fixed price projects.
  • Read the contract carefully before starting the contract like price, scope, deliverables, etc., and if terms are not what you agreed, ask the client to change the terms.

You can read all the rules and TOS in detail in Upwork support articles and in terms of services.

First, have high patience to cope with rejection and loss of connects

  • Send a proposal to only the job that you can do best
  • Tell client that you are availalbe right now and will start working immediately
  • Apply as soon as a job is posted to boost your chances for your proposal to catch an eye of client
  • Some clients are looking for entry level freelancers and their job descriptions sometimes mention that "a good opportunity for star rating" etc. (because they pay less for more work)
  • Try try again till you succeed, but be smart as connects are limited.

Good Luck !
