Hi Morrison,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I checked and can confirm the transaction you're referring to was successful on our end. Direct to local bank transfers are processed within 4 business days, but it can take up to 7 business days to arrive at your bank. Holidays in the US and in your location can also delay the process. Please let us know if after 8 business days the funds are still not reflected in your account so we can initiate a trace for you.

Feel free to check this help article for more information.

Hello Ylli! One is as bad as the other. I withdrew via Paypal today and got

a) A double withdrawal fee of $2 from Upwork (! now there's something to think about)

b) Lost $20 in Paypal's very poor conversion rate.

This leaves everyone between a rock and a very hard place... Either you wait for weeks to get paid, or you suck it up and pay both Upwork & Paypal their higher fees. Also, as it is a UK bank (outside EU), you have virtually no way of complaining as they (deliberately) have moved outside the SEPA scheme.

Hi Petra,
6 business days so far and no sign of payment or reply from Upwork... 😓

Hello Antonella! I know, but there are quite a few who within the last half hour received their payment from December 15th. The money comes from a UK bank which obviously is the reason for the delay. Don't despair. Also your money will arrive - it might even come before Christmas.

Petra,

Losing $20 dollars is not worth it.. Rather wait it out, but I loved being paid right on monday every time.

Also good news: I just received my payment! Interestingly Upwork now emails you something about having to wait about 5 days for your payment..

I will look at how long the next payment will take and based on that I will look at the pros and cons for choosing PayPal instead, in the meantime I hope we can raise this issue maybe somehwere on the forum but I doubt Upwork really cares that much.

In my opinion, If you're receiving a regular income, (which most hourly contracts do, and are the only ones becoming available by Friday), and are prepared for it, it evens out in the long run. It doesn't matter if you're paid Monday or Friday. But if you are used to having the money with you at a certain date and suddenly you have it with a 5-day delay, it can create a lot of problems.

I have made a withdrawal of $1,143.00 today, but it has still not been processed yet and I am getting a bit worried.

Usually Faster Payments to a UK bank happen within a couple of hours.

Is anybody finding the same problem?

It's okay now - Thank God it's been sorted out.....

YESSSSS!

Hello,
I hope you are fine. 8 days ago I made a transaction to my local bank account and till now I didn't receive the payment to my local bank account. This is the first time I face this type of issue otherwise on my previous payments I get the payments after a few days of transactions made from Upwork without any delays.
I attached my invoice also.
please help me!

Hi Hossein,

I'm sorry to hear you haven't received your funds yet. I can see that you processed your withdrawal on 12/15, and 5 business days have passed since you made it. Note that weekends and bank holidays in the US or your country are not considered in this timeframe and can delay your funds. If 8 business days have passed and you still haven't received your funds, please get in touch with us and we'll help you initiate a trace.

It has been nearly a week that my funds are sitting with Upwork and even though they have said the withdrawal has been done I still haven't recieved my funds I know that it is only $40 or so but man we really depend on that money( honestly desperate) I have not received any correspondence what so ever what am I to do or what am I to say.

I am pleading with the powers that be, please can Upwork do the transfer that they have taken money for, I and my family would so appreciate it.

Hello Eric,

I'm so sorry to hear you haven't received your funds yet, and how this has inconvenienced you and your family. I see two recent withdrawals, one performed on Dec 13 and another one on Dec 20. If you're referring to the former, please let me know so we can help you initiate a trace. If it's the latter, that one still is within the expected time frame for you to receive your funds, as Direct to Local Bank transfers can take up to four business days to arrive at your bank. If 8 business days have passed and you still haven't received your funds, please get in touch with us again and we'll help you initiate a trace.

Thank you for your response I find this striking as usually the next day my funds are through except the last one as you said the 20th December. I guess I have no other choice but to wait, I hope the "powers that be" gets their issues sorted out ASAP as families like mine really struggle with things of this nature. Not that this is anyone else's problem.

Hi there Luiggi I'm sure your still very sorry about the deposit that has still not completed (I'm sure that you care very much) but today is 5 working days and still nothing. Upwork has now taken 3 withdrawal fees from me and still there is no joy, is there someone at Upwork that still can do anything to actually get some dam thing done or am I still expected to just caryy on the way I have been for an undisclosed period of time believing that Upwork has got my best interest at heart (obviously the powers that be have only their own at heart). Pay us dammit we need it.

Wait 8 days more. Then you can initiate payment search if not received.

Hi,

On 23rd December I have requested payment via Direct to Local Bank transfer account. I do realize that there was Christmas in the middle which is understandable as banks were shut however, I would like to know the status of the transfer if possible. Is the payment going to be processed today or tomorrow? Can you please let me know?

Many thanks!

I think withdrawal of funds direct to local banks on weekends has always been a hassle, since banking activities are usually closed. And like you said, there was a holiday in between, so, it's now more like weekend hassle plus holiday. So, I'm guessing your payment will be processed when local banking activities resume in your location. If not the same day then perhaps a day or two after that. Just my 2 cents though, I hope this helps.

Hi Nadia,

Thank you for reaching out to us.  In general, Direct to Local Bank payments take up to seven business days to arrive at your bank. There is also a 12:00 pm (noon) UTC cutoff time for same-day processing. After that, transfers will be processed the following business day which in your case is today, the 26th. Bank holidays in the U.S. or your country can delay your funds.

If you don't receive the email notification that it has been processed, please still allow for the payment to be processed. Let us know if, after 8 business days, the funds are still not reflected in your account so we can initiate a trace for you. Feel free to check this help article for more information.

Hi Annie J,

Thank you for your reply. OK so, as the withdrawal was requested on a Saturday (23rd December) I must assume that the payment should be at least processed today. However, up till now, 27th December, I still didn't receive the second e-mail confirming that this is the case. Is it normal? I also would like to know:

- Why people who withdrew payment on 26th December have already received at least the payment processed email? There must be something wrong if payments requested on 23rd haven't right?

- Why other EU people like me who made the withdrawal on the 23rd December got the payment processed email and I haven't?

I am really not happy with the way this is going as it is the third time it happens in a few months. Please get it sorted.

A reply from you (without a simple copy and paste of the information in the support page) would be appreciated

Many thanks

My withdrawal was NOT processed the following business day and nothing happened until today. And no help from support!

Hi Annie Jane,

I do appreciate you must all be very busy, but I think that freelancers asking for support deserve to get decent help and answer. Like many, it is the third business day since my withdrawal and I am still sitting here waiting for something to happen. It seems that Upwork is very quick to get the fees from us but, it basically does not exist when freelancers need support regarding getting their money. We all work hard and I do understand that there might be issues however, we deserve better than being left here waiting for the 8 business days to pass. And then what? I am sure you are able to track our payments. Give us an update please, and show that you are a serious business.

By the way, even if you flagged the issue as solved, it is not, for many of us.

Hi Annie Jane,

I have finally received the payment after I contacted support. The odd thing is that I never received my payment processed email. Anyway, it is sorted. My suggestion would be to ensure that when someone has a ticket open with support, the support agent should at least inform him when the payment is triggered. In my case they didn't. I found out that the payment had finally been made and reached my bank account on 29th Dec only by chance, when I wrote support again asking for an update. I am glad this issue has been solved at least. Thanks

I withdrew my funds on Dec. 22nd and received the confirmation email instantly. I usually receive the "Your payment has been processed" with the conversion rate a few hours after. Today is not a bank holiday and I still have not received it. I can't find any info about it. First time in 2 years this happens, right after a big delay in receiving the payment the week before. It's a bit worrying? How do I find out where my money is?

Hello Laureen,

I experienced a similar situation on December 22nd when I withdrew my funds, but they have not been credited to my bank account yet. Upwork support advised me to wait for '8 business days,' which is quite unusual. In the past, after withdrawing my funds, the bank would receive them on the same day or the next day at the latest. Support told me to reach out to them again if, after 8 days, if the funds are still not credited 😞 And I am not sure, how can they can help me with that...
