Hi Morrison,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I checked and can confirm the transaction you're referring to was successful on our end. Direct to local bank transfers are processed within 4 business days, but it can take up to 7 business days to arrive at your bank. Holidays in the US and in your location can also delay the process. Please let us know if after 8 business days the funds are still not reflected in your account so we can initiate a trace for you.

Feel free to check this help article for more information.

Arjay, are you planning to address everybody else's issue? We already have 20 pages of forum posts about money not reaching bank accounts - anything you intend to do before Christmas or will you just wait for the holidays to arrive and blame the situation on them?

Hi Violet,

I understand the frustration. It usually takes four business days for Direct to Local Bank transactions to be completed. We are actively monitoring the situation and we will be happy to initiate a trace in case the funds are not received after eight business days. Keep in mind that bank holidays in the U.S. and your location may delay these withdrawals. Feel free to message us if you need further assistance.

There have been no bank holidays since December 15th until today. My money is not in my bank account. Upwork is not being transparent and is destroying the Christmas of hundreds if not thousands of freelancers. Now Upwork is going to trace all these transfers?!? This makes absolutely no sense.

Hello Olga Marta! Would you mind leaving a brief comment with your so-called payment date and where you are based on this thread https://community.upwork.com/t5/Freelancers/Payment-late-Christmas-ruined-Trust-lost/m-p/1489542#M81... ? It would help to get an overview over how many are affected. On this thread here we are getting 'hidden' as it is marked as 'Solved'.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else. Direct to bank account withdrawal completed on Dec.15 (to Bulgaria) and the request was processed the same day. No money in my bank account as of yet and contacting support has been pretty much meaningless - the bot insists on an eight-day weight before any action could be initiated on their behalf.

Isn't it time for Upwork to acknowledge this isn't just a regular delay linked to bank holidays (as there aren't any right now)? Obviously they've changed the way that transfers are being handled - someone mentioned a change from an Irish to a UK bank that may be the reason. I think that we deserve at least a basic explanation and an apology for the fact we're not getting our money right before the holidays.

And before a support team member copy-pastes the standard response - no, an eight-day wait isn't the norm. For years, I've been getting the money in my bank account within a single day or two at most. The fact that so many people are raising concerns about the same issue is obviously indicative of a much broader problem... but as usual, we're being left to handle stuff on our own.

Are you still working on new projects, I'm just afraid of wasting my time. This is all so unfair.

Hi Isabel, yes I am. I have long-term clients that have partnered with me through Upwork for years and I need to complete ongoing tasks for them.

I just made my weekly payment request and I haven't received last week's money yet - that's how insane it's gotten. I withdrew to PayPal because I simply can't wait another 15 days to find out whether my money is going to arrive or not. Transfers to PayPal work as per usual but that's not the point. We're still to hear from Upwork in regards to the change they (didn't) introduced and are currently blaming on Christmas holiday delays. Way to go messing things up right when people are needing the money the most!

2 payments delayed

Last Friday, normal arrival day: Monday

Last Monday, normal arrival time Tuesday

Customer Support knows nothing, automatic reply. Says wait 8 business days....lol....it's not like I need the money 🤣...and then? Tomorrow next withdrawal day....should I make a new withdrawal channel or try direct local bank again...... Lol

Merry Christmas 🤬

I just made my last one a couple of seconds ago without having the funds with me from the previous one. This is unheard of...

No reliable channels. I used Payoneer before but one day I also got a huge delay. Anywhere stucks is possible.

It is pitty that problem if exist never published. Only templates from bots.

They don't react on this and no statement. Let's all raise a support ticket and try to get them make a statement. Maybe then they finally react

You know, that thought (of keeping the books look nice) struck me as well, but then I thought: surely not. Nobody is that evil before Christmas...

It's really nice you think like that and it tells you're a good person. But I have to say big businesses, especiall in the US do not care about that...

Solved??? On no...

Now support got creative and found another "reason" for the delay:
"I want to let you know that international payments go through several international and local banks before reaching you. Sometimes, an intermediary or local bank in your country might put a temporary hold on the payment for various reasons. The time it takes to receive the payment can vary depending on banking regulations in your country."
It's the last business day before Christmas and we are without the money we have earned.

Hi Andrea! 😃 Poor excuse... the regulations in Italy, in my case, have nothing to do with this.

Hello, I haven't received my money from the previous Direct to Local Bank payment. I've also requested a new payment today, but I'm not confident that it will be processed successfully. They charge a significant percentage to facilitate easy and secure transactions, so why do they complicate matters and hinder us from receiving what we've earned? I don't understand why I have to pay from my earnings to face these issues.

Support keeps on quoting what's written in the FAQ's. Now I can see they quietly updated them on October 13th to "it can take up to 7 business days". No warning, no information. Nothing. They extend the time to payout silently more and more.

I still have no money on my account, however they verified my PayPal account. Can anyone explain to me how do I withdraw my founds to my PayPal account and not to my bank account. How do I make PayPal my preferred way to transfer my founds. Thanks in advance

Hello Ylli! No, you are not. Welcome a very unhappy club.
