Do I need to file FIRC certificate during tax filing for payment transfer from Upwork in 2022?

I observed that Upwork is now doing all local bank transfers in India through IndusInd bank. Does it mean, that I no longer have to file FIRC certificates during ITR filing? Or, that FIRC certificates are no longer relevant for receiving payments?

Hi Ashok,

Thank you for your message. Personally, I have been using the Direct to Local bank fund transfer and I never had to submit FIRC certificate so far while filing my taxes. I suggest you discuss this with your legal or tax adviser for options applicable to you.

I have seen posts of Indians receiving notices asking them to submit FIRC. How sure are you about this? The confusion is, because I am receiving payments from Indusind Bank and not from an international bank. I do not want to have any legal complications.
