Hey please help me i cant access messages

User has no permissions to perform action access_rooms

Same here! And on mobile the messages don't load at all...

hi Upwork community,

 

I am getting an error telling me that "User has no permissions to perform action access_rooms" whenever I access Messages. This started 2 days ago. Since then I already tried the following:

 

  • Adding another 2FA method
  • Using only 1 device when logging in (I used to have Upwork open in 2 laptops and 1 cellphone)
  • Clearing cache
  • Using incognito mode
  • Not using 'Remember me' feature when logging in
  • Removing add blocker
  • Enabling cookies (including 3rd party cookies)

All of these methods do not work. Note that all of my chats are archived and I use mobile data (slow internet)

Is there a workaround for this error? Are client messages still able to contact me?

Hi everyone - just a quick update from my side:
Support reached out to me. I've already noticed since our last failed charge we've seen an error about our payment method for many weeks now. Even though no payment failed again, we've paid everything a while ago and us updating the payment method multiple times, the error didn't go away.

According to the support in such cases someone from the Upwork team has to manually clear the account. In our case that was also the cause for the "User has no permissions to perform action access_rooms" error message in the chats. So to solve this reach out to support or wait for your ticket to be solved.
