How do i get paid

I am relatively new in upwork a client messaged me asked me to do a job. When i asked him before the work about payment he said he will add it to the milestone at last.I did it and sent the file to the client. How am i going to be paid or did I get scammed?

Hello Sumiran! To get paid in Upwork, you need a contract, as all payments are done through the contract. If the client mentioned that he would add it to a milestone, please double-check if he funded it to be covered by our payment protection.
