Identity (ID) Verification

there is no menu item for verification by ID when I follow the link there is no such page either ... what is the problem please help me to pass verification. thanks

Hi Roman,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

You may be asked to complete a visual verification and provide a valid government-issued ID. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.



If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

Hello friends, I am curious about ID verification. Basically I wanted to ask what is the "expected" time to wait for Upwork to send you email that you need to verify your Identity? I made my account a week ago and I have been waiting until then but nothing is happened yet. Everything is ready from my side and I really can't wait to start working. And second question is will I be able to apply for jobs even tho I am not verified, will that affect my profile?

Hi Admir,

 

Please know that you can apply and start working without verifying your identity! In fact, the verification request usually comes with your first contract.

Problem 


When I click on this option > 
Identity Verification <  then it will take me to a page and there showing "This page doesn't exist"

I know If the team wants to verify my account, I will be notified through an email, or through a notification on my account.


But nowadays it become a necessary thing to have a verification batch.
Somehow clients feel safe giving their work. 

I hope you understand what I want to say
If I open a "request/ticket" will UpWork unblock the identity verification option?

I have checked your account and looks like it doesn't need further verification just yet. Please note that you will not be able to initiate the identity verification yourself and it cannot be requested. As you have mentioned, If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions on how to complete your verification. You may want to check this help article for more information.

Visual verification just keeps on loading

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble completing the verification process. Could you please try using a different browser or the incognito mode of your current browser? You may also try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies. Also note that we only officially support the latest two versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari.

Hi, I have submitted the required ID verification document and done the location and vedio verfication, but I didn't get an “Identity Verified” badge. I see this statement "Verify your identity by 12/15/2022 UTC to continue winning jobs on Upwork" on home page. I look for help form upwork support team.

I can see that you've already submitted the required documentation and the review is still in progress. Please note that it can take up to 3 business days for the review to be complete. The relevant team will contact you if there's anything else you need to do on your end.

I can see that the relevant team reached out to you via a support ticket with more information. You can access the support ticket in question here. Note that support requests are responded to in the order they are received. Kindly allow 24-48 hours for the team to follow up with you and assist you further.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I shared your concern with our team and you should be able to update your photo now. 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile including your profile photo needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. Your profile photo should be a clear, headshot-style photo of you which is cropped from the top of your head, and just below your shoulders, and -

 

  • you are not wearing sunglasses in the photo;
  • it is not a logo or clip-art;
  • it is not a group photo; 
  • the photo was not digitally-altered

Hello

I have some issues with my ID verification

It's over 3 days (72hrs) now since I submitted my files but I still don't receive any response.

Dear Fritz,

I faced the same problem, propably because I uploaded my ID. In the end, it was rejected. After uploading a photo of my passport, it was immediately accepted. If you uploaded the ID, try uploading your passport.

I have been a long user of upwork, and have dedicated some time and effort in creating my profile; only to see that no one wants to avail my services and has since rendered me inactive in this website only to learn that as a freelancer, you would have to verify your profile so that clients will be able to trust you with their projects. But to my shock there is no id verification section in my settings. I have read that there is no requesting for a verification but I would just like to know what I have to do to be able to be qualified for a ID verification process.

Well, here is Massimo from Italy.

I think my English isn't good, chatting is okay, but speaking is too bad.

When the video call, is it okay with my bad English?

I have no idea about video call?

How many minutes will it take?
How many questions?
And if I don't speak English, then what will happen?

My mother tongue is Italian, I am ready with my language.

Dear Upwork support.

 

I have sent my ID image & information to support team and said to me "wait 24 or 48 hours"

But after a week, there is no news with that.
What is the solution?

And after submitting ID information & image, then how many steps still remain?

So, do not worry if your English is not perfect. We work with freelancers in over 180 countries, and we understand that English may not be your first language.
