there is no menu item for verification by ID when I follow the link there is no such page either ... what is the problem please help me to pass verification. thanks

Hi Roman,
If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.
You may be asked to complete a visual verification and provide a valid government-issued ID. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.
Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.
If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

Contact Help Desk/Support! They are very helpful. They will walk you through the process and undo the upload lock (or explain how to get the lock off your account). It's been a while since I did the identity verification, but I think I needed to upload my drivers license (I'm in the USA...a passport or similar document with your photo on it would probably work) and then I had to do a video Zoom call with them just so they can match my face to the ID.

I checked and it looks like your account doesn't need further verification just yet. Please note that you will not be able to initiate the identity verification yourself and it cannot be requested. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions on how to complete your verification. You may want to check this help article for more information.

So ,the pic on my govt id is like of 5yrs ago which is different from what I look now,I think my previous ID verification failed because of that only,
Now the thing is I can get it updated but it will take some days but upwork says "Verify your identity by 10/23/2022 UTC to continue winning jobs on Upwork"
what should I do now?for now I have other proofs such as college id to prove that person in ID is indeed me.

so the thing is they are asking me to upload other govt issued ids,but the problem is my picture isnt updated at the govt databases from years,I can get it updated but its going to take some time but it says to verify your id by 23 oct UTC,what should I do in this case?You guys are completely ignoring my second question,or you can fix a video call session where I can showcase all of my documents,school's ,college's ,govt ids etc to prove that its indeed me.

As Annie mentioned, you already have a support ticket with the relevant team and I'd suggest that you continue communicating with them on any additional questions or concerns you may have about the process, as they're the ones who can best assist you. I can see that you've followed up with them already, note that support requests are responded to in the order they are received. Kindly allow 24-48 hours for the team to follow up with you and assist you further.

By the way, please remember there are many freelancers who are not financially stable or come from developed country like you guys probably do,
For me, I started upwork thinking of it as the best platform out there as it awards you for your skills and hardwork and not by luck like other platforms and sure enough I landed interviews and jobs in the starting weeks,
So please reconsider my issue and stop ignoring by saying it has been forwarded to correct dept who then forwards me the same message "how to correctly send an ID" ,all I am asking is what I am doing wrong and have a solution for this,
There are many threads on upwork with same issue that "Aadhar ID" is getting rejected, please know that is the most important ID verification in India.
Remember if a person is trying this hard to get verified, he/she may not be a scammer always but a person in need.

It's extremely rare for me to criticize Upwork support as usually they are excellent, but I agree in this case 100%. These cut and pastes of the requirements without any explanation of what was wrong with the submitted scans is Kafkaesque bureaucracy at it's worst. I've never seen anything like this on Upwork in more than a decade ofworking here even before it was called Upwork. It's very stressful, and inconsiderate and disrespectful of freelancers. There should be an explanation of why the document was rejected. Then we could try and correct it.

I need to upload a scan of my immigration visa. Except that is simply a stamp in my passport. So what should I upload? Scan of the first page of the passport and the visa? Will your interface allow me to upload multiple scans for the same "document"? Should I scan both onto one page and upload that?
I also have a driver's licence and Social Insurance ID issed in Thailand. And car registration. Why so limited on the documents you accept?

This is going very badly. They just say the document is not acceptable with no explanation as to why and close the ticket. It's a scan of my bank statement. I cannot show "all four corners" of an online document if that is the reason.
They do not provide me a way to show my immigration visa as I would need to upload both the first page of my passport with photo and details and the visa stamp itself.
I really need some thoughtful help through this bureaucratic nightmare

Let me ask you a generic question. There is an option to change one's profile to match the location - something like that. Does that mean, just using me as an example, lying and saying I am actually in Canada? If that is not it can you explain just what that option means? I'm sure I am not the only one that is interested.
