Identity Verification is under Manual Review

Hi. I am stuck in some kind of loop. I have received several requests to verify my identity yesterday and today. I keep using my phone to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license and then do a quick selfie. It always says "thanks for your submission" and then it says it's undergoing a manual review. A few hours later I get another request to do it all over again. 


I think I've subitted it 5 or 6 times. Should I be doing something different? Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

Hello Adrian,

 

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to complete the ID verification process. In some cases, if you try to submit a document from the list and we can't automatically verify your submission, it will undergo a manual review process. If this happens, please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review. 

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it's unexpired and valid. You may need to try multiple times and this will also trigger a manual review process. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Acceptable documents include a passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

I'm afraid we can't expedite the process, Jocelyn. However, I'd like to clarify that the current restriction won't prevent you from working on your recently accepted offer. You can still fulfill your commitments while the team completes their review.

There is nothing wrong with my profile and ID. But after submitting verification it always says different country with my profile. How do I complete verification if it is like this?

I see that the team is currently reviewing your submission manually. Please allow 1-3 days for the review to be completed. The team will let you know if there’s anything else you need to do.

Hello Community,

I am Zainab, I have my upwork account created some months ago but I didn't complete the registration. Recently I came across my account details on my email and I jumped on it and completed my account set-up. Unfortunately my profile can't be viewed by others, I have placed the public visibility on but still the same.

I need help on what to do to make my profile visible and be able to send proposals for jobs.

Thank you for sharing your concern. I checked and see that if you are experiencing this error, this means you are required to complete a verification process. You can visit your Identity Verification settings page and follow the steps provided. Once completed, your account will be resumed, and your profile will become available within 24 hours. If the issue persists, let us know so we can help you further.

I appreciate this so much, Ronna. I did my Identity verification yesterday and am awaiting Upwork's manual review response. I can't wait to have my account restored.

Presently this is what I see when I click on "view as others see your profile"

I am stepping in for Ronna. After reviewing your account, it seems that your previous submission has been rejected. This is the reason why you are still seeing the error message. To complete your verification more efficiently, you can refer to the tips section on this help page. You can resubmit the documents from the Settings page.

Help! I accepted my first ever contract on Upwork, immediately I accepted, I got an email asking me to verify my identity. I'm Nigerian, I already uploaded my National Identity Number Slip as a means of identification, I also took the selfie, the identification checkbox and selfie checkbox changed to green when I completed the process and it said Upwork would get back to me in 48hrs. It's been past 48hrs, and I've tried to upload the ID card again, but when I upload the ID card, I don't get the option to take the selfie anymore, it just says the info has been received and I should keep checking my mail. The idcard checkbox changes to green then after a few minutes, ir changes back to a yellow circle with an exclamation mark in it. Is there something I should do? Should I be worried? Upwork gave me a 7-day ultimatum to respond to the identity verification, and I've done so, but I'm not even sure if they've received any of my uploads. As anyone on here been in a similar situation? What can I do?

Currently have an issue with my profile identity verification

 

Have tried the verification 4 times with my national ID however, it always ask me to do the verification again after submission, i switched to a different id (State Uni. ID) an now placed in manual review. What to do?

I checked your account and saw that your document has been rejected. Please submit a valid document. This help article has more information about the acceptable ID types.

Hi I have similar issues. 
I'm currently living in Malaysia but I I'm a citizen of Egypt. I do have Malaysian driving license however. 
so I submitted it both sides of my license and the next day I received an email that we couldn't not verify your identity "resubmit your alternate side of the ID" 

 

  • I did this again and today I received the same email. 
    now I decided to directly use my Egyptian passport and it says we will take 3 to 5 working days to verify your identity. 

I have an active contract and it's my first one. I need my account well and in good condition ASAP.

Hi Upwork Community,

I hope everyone is doing well. I completed the verification process 7 days ago and am still waiting for it to be approved. I understand there might be a delay due to a large number of verifications, but I wanted to check if this wait time is typical.

Should I continue to wait, or is there any way to expedite the process?

I have submitted a ticket yesterday (approximately 30 hours ago) and have not received any help up to now.

 

Could you please get someone to check the ticket number 49185827?

 

It is about ID verification as I have selected a neighbour country due to my country (Kosovo) not being listed.
