Identity Verification is under Manual Review

Hi. I am stuck in some kind of loop. I have received several requests to verify my identity yesterday and today. I keep using my phone to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license and then do a quick selfie. It always says "thanks for your submission" and then it says it's undergoing a manual review. A few hours later I get another request to do it all over again. 


I think I've subitted it 5 or 6 times. Should I be doing something different? Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to complete the ID verification process. In some cases, if you try to submit a document from the list and we can't automatically verify your submission, it will undergo a manual review process. If this happens, please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review. 

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it's unexpired and valid. You may need to try multiple times and this will also trigger a manual review process. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Acceptable documents include a passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

Hi. I've tried so many times going through the identity verification but my PhilHealth ID and Quezon City ID keeps being rejected even though (1) they're a government issued ID and (2) they have the required elements specified by Upwork.

Hi Ramoncito,

 

I checked, and you will need to submit a valid document other than your Philhealth ID. Please note that you will need to take a picture of your government-issued ID to verify your identity. The acceptable forms of ID vary by country and will be listed on the form.

 

  • This ID must include your picture, signature, name, date of birth, and address, with the exception of passports, which don't need your address
  • The documents we accept include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

Note that we cannot accept:

  • Student IDs, employee IDs, library cards, handwritten IDs, temporary IDs, photocopied IDs, military IDs, and health cards.

Hi, I tried to verify the documents and it tells me that manual verification may take several days.

I am interested in 2 offers I sent the contract to, I would like to see if it is possible to verify it first so that I can work in the meantime.

Same thing has happened to me yesterday. And today I think I have missed a very good opportunity (something I am an expert at) because my account is limited and I can't even propose on jobs. With the hope that someone sees this, can we please speed up the process and maybe get it sorted out today? Thanks in advance

I tried to pass my profile verification. It was OK with selfie, but for some reasons it failed with ID. Why? Could you explain please?

Thank you for sharing your concern. Upon checking, it seems that your previous submission was rejected because the image of your ID card was not acceptable. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. You may complete the ID Verification process again through this page. You can learn more here.

Not able to apply to jobs as the "Apply" button is disabled (i do have sufficient connects) also i was able to apply yesterday.

Also, not able to raise request to customer support as i get screen with no option to raise ticket.

Do you maybe have a message to validate your ID? Your profile picture must be a picture of yourself anyway.

 I checked, and you need to update your profile photo and submit the original copy of your document. As our team confirmed, the document you submitted was blurry.

Hello,

I am working on my first job right now, and had to undergo the profile verification process.  It turns out that UpWork has to do a manual verification on my profile, and so I noticed that if I see my profile from a public view it says "This profile is no longer available."  Will this affect my ability to receive messages or complete my job during the duration of the verification?

 Hi Upwork support team, I'm yet unable to verify my ID since a week today. After capturing (see attachment) and all those processes involved, it will still not verify instead the process will request I capture my ID again.

 

What could be the problem? How can I get the done?

Hi, I have same issue, I've been asked to verify my identity and ends up getting manual reviews, But I have exclamation marks in every points. How to solve this? Thank you

Hello,

My verification process got rejected after a manual review for no apparent reason on the 30th of August. They did mention that I need to re apply and I did. However it has been 11 days and I haven't received a response yet. 

Kindly fix this issue at the earliest.

Hi Ali,

 

The verification team rejected the document because it was not readable. You need to submit a document that clearly shows the information on your ID. Please note the following when submitting your document:

 

  • Take a photo of the front of your ID, without flash
  • Capture the image from above, with your ID lying on a flat surface
  • Ensure all four corners of your ID are showing
  • Take the photo in color (at least 200 dpi)
  • Upload your photo in PNG, JPEG, PDF, or BMP format
  • Don't crop, rotate, touch up, adjust colors, or alter the images in any way

Your government ID should:

  • Be the same person as your Upwork profile photo
  • Match the address you have on file on your Upwork profile
