Identity Verification is under Manual Review

Hi. I am stuck in some kind of loop. I have received several requests to verify my identity yesterday and today. I keep using my phone to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license and then do a quick selfie. It always says "thanks for your submission" and then it says it's undergoing a manual review. A few hours later I get another request to do it all over again. 


I think I've subitted it 5 or 6 times. Should I be doing something different? Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

Hello Adrian,

 

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to complete the ID verification process. In some cases, if you try to submit a document from the list and we can't automatically verify your submission, it will undergo a manual review process. If this happens, please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review. 

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it's unexpired and valid. You may need to try multiple times and this will also trigger a manual review process. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Acceptable documents include a passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

My Upwork identity verification steps are showing yellow exclamation mark after submitting all the details, what could be the cause? can anyone from upword support tells me if my documants are being identify manually or is there something wrong

Hello guys,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently joined Upwork and began submitting proposals a few days ago. Today, I got lucky; I've secured one job and have a meeting scheduled with another potential client (first time).

However, I've encountered an issue. After submitting my ID for verification as requested (got notified shortly after being hired), I noticed that my profile is no longer publicly visible. Is this a normal part of the verification process? and how many hours or days it usually take ?

Second question: In order to build out my profile, I asked of my non-upwork client to submit a testimonial, he did and it doesn't show up ( pending ), how many days does it take ?

I'd appreciate any insights or advice from experienced Upwork freelancers regarding this situation. Thank you in advance for your help.

Approval of the testimonial can take up to ten days.

Hi i have an upwork account for several weeks already and now when i had my first contract i get a message that  i need to verify my identity again for some reason. I submited my personal id and it didn't get verified. i also tried with my driver's licence and still the same error. What is happening??? Because of this i cannot use my account...

Why is this process happening again? My identity was validated long time ago. Who will compensate my lost connections for which i paid money??? I cannot continue my collaboration with clients. I demand to be compansated back with money i spent and couldn t use because of this bug

I accepted my first gig today and was asked to verify my identity. I provided my ID and took a selfie and all but now I'm under manual review and my account is suspended. I'm worried about losing my first project - can the client still reach me? Also, I think it's extremely unfair that we're not asked to complete verification earlier.

i've submitted the documents for identity verification but instead of success and exclimation sign appears ,but that red warning is still on my profile, which is frustrating, as I currently have an active contract,and need my account in good standing. Could you please reply,?  Even now my account is on hold.

I'm facing the same issue. I've uploaded the details many times but it is showing warning against IDcard and I'm not able to apply for new jobs. Very frustrating. I couldn't find an option to post on community. Someone, please help.

Hi Upwork Team,

 

I hope this message finds you well. It's been 4 days since I uploaded images from my phone for verification, and my ID is still showing as "verifying manually." Whenever I apply for any work, it prompts me to verify my ID. I have already scanned my CNIC and my own face image.

 

Your chatbot mentioned that automatic verification takes half an hour and manual verification takes up to 2 days. However, in my case, it has been 4 days, and the status still says "verifying manually". Could you please assist me with this issue?
