Identity Verification is under Manual Review

Hi. I am stuck in some kind of loop. I have received several requests to verify my identity yesterday and today. I keep using my phone to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license and then do a quick selfie. It always says "thanks for your submission" and then it says it's undergoing a manual review. A few hours later I get another request to do it all over again. 


I think I've subitted it 5 or 6 times. Should I be doing something different? Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

Hello Adrian,

 

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to complete the ID verification process. In some cases, if you try to submit a document from the list and we can't automatically verify your submission, it will undergo a manual review process. If this happens, please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review. 

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it's unexpired and valid. You may need to try multiple times and this will also trigger a manual review process. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Acceptable documents include a passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

Hi Luiggi, thanks for the info! Regarding your response, does this mean I won't be able to apply for jobs until my verification is successful? Also, how will I get an update on the status of my identity verification? Is it via email? Hope you can let me know asap!

Thank you for your question, Peaches. That's correct; I'm afraid you won't be able to submit any new proposals until your verification is completed. You should receive an email letting you know once it is.

and I am regularly updating my identification but it is not approved yet

I have tried for identity verification and it said 

We've started a manual review

Watch your email in case we need you to answer any questions. I didn't receive any email from upwork. How long it will take to approve it manualy? I have 2 identity card first i tried with renewed id card which is on my husband's name as guardian it was not identified. Then i tried with my previous id card which was on my father's name as guardian. Now i cannot see any option to again identify my id card. Now lastly i tried with my previous id card so for which id they have started manual identification process?

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced while verifying your account. After reviewing your account, it seems that your previous submission has been rejected. Please update your profile picture and re-upload your ID document. To complete your verification more efficiently, you can refer to the tips section on this help page.

now i upload both sides of id and also update the profile photo now i am getting this. How long it will take to approve the identity and I can start sending proposals?

I updated my profile picture but every time after review they say that After review, we have determined that your profile photo does not meet Upwork requirements. You need to update your profile picture. What is wrong with it. Allthough the picture i have uploaded is meeting the upwork requirements.

Please I am having issues with id verification. I am a Nigerian, I have submitted both my international passport, my NIN, my voters card and everything still yet it's being rejected. How do I do this?

Hi there, I'm struggling with getting started with the ID verification portion. I've submitted my ID three different times (once with a selfie). It's been more than the allotted time period for verification, and I haven't received any emails from Upwork (yes, I checked my Junk mail). I've tried the chatbot, which is absurdly unhelpful, and I've tried submitting ID via computer and on my phone, but the little red prompt to verify is still showing up on my account. 

 

I can't seem to find any information on how to file a support ticket, and the chatbot won't tell me how. Please help.

I've been facing the same problem. I emailed Upwork support and it replied with " this email is no longer supported". It's a loop, everytime I verify my identity and re-login. The red little banner re appears.

Upwork asked me to verify my identity through any kind of government issued photo id so, I used my NIC (national identity card) issued by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I received an email saying that the names on my ID and profile don't match. So I put in a request for changing the name and it got approved. 

 

I submitted my ID again this time nothing being wrong, but it still won't review. I keep seeing the message "your Identification is being reviewed manually". It's been 2 days I haven't received any reply or email and when I try to contact support, I receive an auto-generated message saying "this email is no longer supported". 

 

I can't get any new jobs and this creates alot of problems for me. Please review this problem at earliest convenience and help me out.
