Identity Verification is under Manual Review

Hi. I am stuck in some kind of loop. I have received several requests to verify my identity yesterday and today. I keep using my phone to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license and then do a quick selfie. It always says "thanks for your submission" and then it says it's undergoing a manual review. A few hours later I get another request to do it all over again. 


I think I've subitted it 5 or 6 times. Should I be doing something different? Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

Hello Adrian,

 

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to complete the ID verification process. In some cases, if you try to submit a document from the list and we can't automatically verify your submission, it will undergo a manual review process. If this happens, please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review. 

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it's unexpired and valid. You may need to try multiple times and this will also trigger a manual review process. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Acceptable documents include a passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

I submitted my drivers license and a picture to be put under review as I was told I was required to do. Its been 2 days and there is no sign that it is still under review in the support requests section. When I open the alert on the top of the website that notifies me about the required action, it says, "get started" as in if I never even submitted my pictures. Can I get a confirmation that it is still under review? I have also changed my profile picture which was another required action but the alert is still at the top of my screen saying I must change my profile picture. Will these go away, and when will I be able to utilize my account again? Thanks.

I have over 90 connects on upwork. i have just started using it and also uplded the required id and pic. but, Now I cant submit a proposal.  I can just the job but "Apply now" option is not working. i need help from someone, please?

Your account is currently restricted since you need to verify your identity, so you won't be able to apply for new jobs. I see that the team is currently manually reviewing your submission for verification. Please allow 1-3 days for the review to be completed. The team will let you know if there’s anything else you need to do.

I received a job offer today morning and i was working on it. In the mean time i checked my profile and it was asking me to verify my identity. So I proceeded with identity verification and completed all the steps. It said the identity needs to be reviewed manually so it might take 1-3 business days. But soon after in the evening when i tried to apply for other jobs, the apply option was disabled and when i contacted the customer support via chat, it said that my accound was suspended.

 

But under the identity verification section, it still says that my Identity is under manual verification and I'm still holding a job and continuing the work. 

 

There was a slight space (" ") match issue with my Upwork Username and Identification Document name, I've also corrected it. Please look into it. My name is actually registered as "Sai Sibanshu Mohanty" in the documents but mostly I use "Saisibanshu Mohanty" on non official places. But now I've updated the Name in Upwork to match the Name in the original documents of mine.

 

Please help me with this.

Hi, 
After recivening my first job Upwork ased me to verifiy my identity, I went to do it with my National ID because it's all I have as I do not have passport or drive's license, But the issue is that there's no option in the ID Type option called National. Please help ASAP

Hi Mostafa,

 

Can you please try selecting from any of the verification ID types, then proceed with uploading your national ID and see if that works? If you are still unable to do so, please let us know.

Hi, 
it's too long since I have uploaded my National ID to get verified put I got no response, also I have posted my issue here wishing to get any help but I hadn't, please I am losing a lot of opportunities because that I did not get verified yet, I couldn't apply to jobs or meet new clients or even update my membership! The verification process stuck on this one, the only ID I have is my national ID.

 Follow these steps:

1. *Contact Upwork Support*: Reach out to Upwork's Customer Support directly via the "Help" tab on the website or mobile app. Explain the situation and provide the following details:
- Username
- Date of National ID upload
- Type of ID uploaded (National ID)
2. *Check ID Upload*: Ensure the National ID is:
- Clear and legible
- Uploaded in the correct format (PDF, JPEG, or PNG)
- The correct document type (National ID)
3. *Verify Email*: Check the email associated with the Upwork account for any communication from the verification team.
4. *Provide Additional Information*: If requested, provide additional documentation or information to support the verification process.
5. *Follow Up*: If the issue persists, follow up with Upwork Support to ensure the issue is being addressed.

Thank you for reaching out. I did not get your point, because I could not find the help or support section that you have mentioned. All I could find is the automated live chat bot from Upwork and that's helpless and it gives me generic replays, so please specify how could I do that. Or request a manual verification for me, please.

I am stepping in for Joanne. Upon checking, it seems that your previous submission was rejected because the image of your ID card was not acceptable. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. You may complete the ID Verification process again through this page. You can learn more here

Hi Ivygail, 

Thank you for reaching out. I kept on mind all the steps and rules to upload my National ID, the background was black, the image was really clear and all of that. The point is that I don't have a passport or drive lisence as mentioned in the Type ID list, and I have uploaded my National ID by selecting drive lisence or permanent card and upload my National ID instead as Joanne mentioned and still didn't get verified. Could you please elevate my problem to the manual verification or open a ticket request for me, please it's an urgent case for me. Thank you

I was requested to verify my ID in upwork a couple weeks ago. I submitted my ID photos, but then the process entered in manual review.

It's been a week with no response from the review process. 

Should I tray again the review or should I wait contact from the manual review team?

How long this process should take?

The verification process seems to be stuck in a loop. I've followed all the steps multiple times where I scan my ID and take a selfie picture. It then goes into a manual review and a few hours later the page resets and I have to go through the process again. Can someone help me with this?

I am a Ukrainian living in Ireland under the temporary protection directive (war refugees). 

 

I have sent a total of 6 documents so far to get verified, and none of them were accepted, and for reasons that actually don't match with the documents themselves. 

 

First, I posted my PPS Number, Temporary Protection letter (the refugee document), and proof of accommodation from my landlord. These are the official documents recognized by the Government of Ireland, yet the Upwork verifiers called them "handwritten" when they're not. They only have forms to fill out, but they are actual printed forms by the Irish government.

 

I have sent papers that confirm I am attending University College Dublin (The college listed on my bio), yet they were declined too. And they were documents with links to verify authenticity of them. I have then sent a tax document, that didn't get accepted either. 

 

I am considering just setting briefly my country back to Ukraine and then back to Ireland.

 

I need for my account to be verified, and I've sent 6 documents that are real documents and none are accepted. This is strange.
