Identity Verification is under Manual Review

Hi. I am stuck in some kind of loop. I have received several requests to verify my identity yesterday and today. I keep using my phone to take a picture of the front and back of my drivers license and then do a quick selfie. It always says "thanks for your submission" and then it says it's undergoing a manual review. A few hours later I get another request to do it all over again. 


I think I've subitted it 5 or 6 times. Should I be doing something different? Am I doing something wrong? Can you help?

Hello Adrian,

 

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when trying to complete the ID verification process. In some cases, if you try to submit a document from the list and we can't automatically verify your submission, it will undergo a manual review process. If this happens, please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review. 

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it's unexpired and valid. You may need to try multiple times and this will also trigger a manual review process. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Acceptable documents include a passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

Hi Ivy,

 

I have tried submitting my government-issued ID again as instructed, but I do not think the verification has been successful. Please, how can I be assisted with this?

I've recently been trying to verify my upwork profile and after several attempts there's a big confusion that seems to get in my way.

 

When I click on the see public view button it shows "your profile is no longer available" while the other page shows your profile has been verified successfully.

 

I've attached screenshots below

Thank you for your message. I checked, and it looks like your profile is unavailable due to your pending ID verification requirements. It seems that your previous submission was rejected because the image of your ID card was not acceptable. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. You may complete the ID Verification process again through this page. You may want to use a mobile device to complete the verification process. You can learn more here.

Hi,

Iam not not able to submit proposals,

apply now button is not working, it  is converted to grey. What is the reason. Kindly resolve this issue  as soon as possible.

Check if you might need to verify your identity. You should see a message at the top of the page where you are trying to submit a proposal.

Hi Parth,

 

Thank you for your message. I checked and see that if you are experiencing this error, this means you are required to complete a verification process. You can visit your Identity Verification settings page and follow the steps provided. Once completed, your account will be resumed and you will be able to submit proposals again. If the issue persists, let us know so we can help you further.

hai, i am sorry i got the same issue on my profile but i didn't get the email from upwork, it's been 3 days and i got my ID approved yet the other following still not approved and  i need some help and advised

Thank you for reaching out. It looks like the "Apply Now" button is grayed out due to your pending ID  Verification requirements. We have received your documents and they are now being reviewed by our assigned team. Please allow 1-3 days for the team to finish their review.  They will notify you if they need further information.

Hello Upwork Community,

 

I recently received a prompt from Upwork asking me to verify my location, although I have followed the steps and submitted what was needed I didn't state there that they have received it. The status on the steps for submitting document is still color yellow with exclamation point. 

 

Background:

1. I am a Filipino and originally from Philippines. I have Philippine passport.

2. Currently I am living here in Malaysia with a dependent pass since my husband is working here.

3. I also previously work here in Malaysia and paid taxes.

4. When I created Upwork account, it automatically detected my location. My phone number for verification is also a Malaysia number.

5. I have submitted my passport bio, my selfie holding the passport, dependent pass document. I also emailed support so I can submit the Tax clearance form bearing my name on it.

 

I know that it says 48hours waiting but can I still contact my client? I just recently got my contract and I don't want it to be affected. Can my client message me still? Is contract still there?

 

My public profile is gone too when I view it. Will this go for 7days? I am desperate to have an answer soon.

 

Another thing, base on you experience, how long it really takes?

Please help me. Anyone from here or Upwork people. Please.

Hi Michelle,

I went through the same thing last week with identity verification. I saw the same yellow warning icons like the ones you're seeing. It took about 1-2 days to get everything cleared up.

If it doesn't get resolved, try reaching out to Upwork support. They're super helpful and should be able to assist you!

Thanks Noel. Now I feel relieved somehow. I am new to upwork and I don't want to lose credibility just because of this. I hope mine will be fixed the soonest. So my profile will be shown again in public. Otherwise, I will contact support.
