Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

Both my government ID and my photo have been getting verified for over 3 business days now, but I have not received a notification of acceptance or rejection.

 

Can someone on the Upwork team please advise?

Hello, 

 

I recently uploaded my Philhealth ID as I dont have any other Valid IDs due to my personal belonging was stolen before. 

Its showing in the banner that if its not verified it can put my account on hold. Tomorrow is the day which si September 27,2023. 

Been submitting it since I created my account but it kept on showing either failed or still reviewing. 

Im concern because if my account will be hold I wont be able to continue working? 

Please help.

I have checked your account, and it doesn't need further verification yet. Please be reminded that you cannot initiate the identity verification yourself, and cannot be requested. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions for completing your verification.

hey,

 

i didn't know about the id verification before, as i got my first client this message appeared "Action required: Verify your identity by 09/28/2023 UTC to continue winning jobs on Upwork." i have submitted my details now and i wonder what will happen if the review delayed till i receive the response after 09/28/2023 UTC, what will this do to affect my account.

I am new at Upwork.  I am not sure how the connects work?  I applied for the jobs and got unresponsive customer, I thought after withdrawing I wll get my connects back. But I have not.  How do I get my connects back even if I have 0 conversation with the customers?  It is not my fault that I have not heard back from them.

Thank you for reaching out and raising this query. Please know that we return Connects If the client cancels a project before a contract is made and If we remove a project’s post because we believe it violates our Terms of Service. Connects used for a withdrawn proposal will not be returned to your account. Feel free to check this help article to learn more about how Connects works.

Hi Yousef,

 

This is a good question, and thank you for bringing this up. If you don’t verify your identity within seven days of notification, we will place a hold on your account. The hold will prevent you from withdrawing earnings, submitting proposals to new jobs, accepting direct hires, or appearing in search results. Any active proposals that have been submitted will be canceled. The hold will not affect your ability to work on existing contracts, and we will be happy to remove it once you’ve verified your identity.

Hey! I can't see any Identity verification section in my account settings. How can I get to it? My account is 5-6 months old.

In my profile there is no verify account option sp now where i can verify my account . i also try the direct link from feedback but it throwing an 404 error why ?

Dear Upwork team, I don't know how disappointed I am right now. I have requested help to change my name on the profile since 20 days ago, and every agent that has helped me never actually read through my message and know what my issue is. They keep replying with the same thing, telling me to do the exact thing that I have trouble with. In short, when I created this account, I used my English name, but then I realized that I need to use my legal name to verify my ID. Then I changed everything to my legal name, but the ID verification system still has my English name on the record, keeps requesting me to send an ID under that name. And when I send my actual ID through, I got rejected. Now I can't retrieve my money and can't bid for a new job. Upwork, please help. This is such a big disappointment. Could you actually send an agent who reads through the message fully and help me?

Hi Arjay, thanks for replying. However, the biggest problem is, none of the people that has helped me actually understand my issue. Do you understand me? Everytime they said they further review and then got back to me with the exact same reply, telling me to do the exact thing I have issue with!!!

I  got a notification after my client put wage in escrow and this label start to alert me in pop up "Action required verify your Identity by 10/02/2023 " I am going to register my identification soon and also passport but I'm not sure that I will make it on time so

The question is What will happend if I can not verify ontime? 

And if suppose my account was reristrict am I able to recover my account and the fund after that? Thanks in advance
