Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

I sent my documentation for review several days ago and it has not yet been approved. I received a notification that I need to have my identity confirmed by 11/11 in order to continue using Upwork. how should I proceed?

I have an Aadhar card which I am entering on your website for verification but verification is not happening. I have another problem: I don't have a name at the end of my name, so my document verification can't be completed. I think I had faced this problem earlier also when I was linking banks, for which I had sent my PAN card to you and got it approved. Please help me, I have become a little fat and with age, beards have appeared on my face.

Hi Adhiraj,

 

If you only legally use your first name, you can add it to your Upwork account's first and last name fields. You can update it by going to Settings > Contact Info. Regarding the verification process, I see that you've already raised a support ticket; kindly allow more time for the team to respond and assist you further.

I was unable to resolve my latest issue related to identity verification.
The support chat bot never helps and is constantly asking the same questions.

 

I checked the issue satus and it says "resolved" - bit it is not!
How can I get thru to a human support team member?

Hi Julia,

 

I have checked your account, and it doesn't need further verification yet. Please remember that you cannot initiate the identity verification yourself, and cannot be requested. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions for completing your verification. 

 

I can confirm that there are no restrictions on your account so you can still submit proposals to potential clients without having to verify your account. You may want to check this help article for more information.

ID document verification Fail always fails without any clear reason it just some generic repeated in advices. I need the specific reason to work on it not just formal reply from bot.

I'm sorry you're having difficulties verifying your ID. I can also see that the team has provided you with more information about the status of the review and instructions on how to complete it.

 

Please be aware that Upwork needs to obtain Government-Issued documents that meet the required criteria. This ID/document must include your picture, signature, name, date of birth, and address, with the exception of passports, which don't need your address. 

 

The documents we accept include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets the criteria above.

 

Feel free to coordinate with the team by responding to the email notification, and they'll surely assist you accordingly.

Hey team,
I am Md Remel Hossain. I created a new Upwork account. To verify my account, I scanned my face and submitted my government ID card and tax ID. The completion percentage on my account is 100%; However, my official ID card is not verified, but everything else on the ID card is fine. From the Bangladesh Government NID server, I have downloaded my NID card in PDF format. I have submitted my government ID on Upwork, but it is not being verified. Please help me to verify my ID.

I am trying to pout my bank detiles  for a payment it and my card is not accepted. I have 3 seperate cards on there all work which arent being accepted. Can someone help please?

It's been four days, and still no updates on my Identity Verification.
I had a warning saying we're reviewing your ID.

The warning is gone and haven't received any emails about it.
Where should I contact?
I cannot create any support ticket or talk to any live agent with the support bot it always replies the same.

I am from India and I unable to verify either by aadhar card or pan card. 

 

I basically filled my details days ago yet nothing happened and tried it twice today

 

Is there any solution to this?
